Students, staff and faculty are invited to come meet or get re-aquainted with the SDRC, tour the facilities, learn about programs and services, resource partners, and more!

This workshop is specifically for UCR students.
The goal of this workshop seeks to facilitate awareness, understanding of disability through connecting students with resources, knowledge and relationships of disability as diversity.
Date: Friday, September 27th
Time: 3PM - 4PM
Participants in this program will gain knowledge about what it means to truly be an ally for students with disabilities.
Topics include:
Disability Law
Academic Accommodations
Disability Etiquette
Hidden Disabilities
Disability Demographics
Accessibility
Student Participants will also receive a Disability Ally badge that can placed in their email signature notifying students that they are a safe space for individuals with disabilities.

As you prepare to transition to UCR, you may benefit from working with a peer mentor. SDRC Peer Mentors can assist with navigating today’s challenges, offer tips when needed, and provide guidance throughout Fall 2024 quarter and, if requested, throughout the academic school year. A peer mentor has experienced similar challenges as yourself and will be able to help.
Peer mentors have participated in extensive training, and will continue to partake in ongoing skills-development training throughout the year. Our mentors understand the importance of confidentiality and are prepared to direct you to available resources when needed.

Experience mind-body balance through sensory exploration. Enjoy the sensory-friendly space with relaxing lighting and sound. In addition to indoor activities, you’ll have an opportunity to engage in an adaptive challenge course and partake in a garden activity. Indoor activities include building your own sensory jar or sand tray, painting a tote back, participating in mindfulness meditation and mind/muscle connection. Through these opportunities, you’ll get a better sense of awareness of how you can get sensory input from various activities. Let’s learn together and embrace neurodiversity.
