Do not give hydrogen peroxide to cats!
The internet can be full of misinformation, and whether or not hydrogen peroxide can be given to cats is unfortunately, a topic that can lead to deadly consequences. There is no safe or effective way to make our feline friends vomit at home, that includes using hydrogen peroxide. In fact, using something like hydrogen peroxide can cause significant injury to a catโs gastrointestinal system, potentially causing more damage than the original issue. Cats are extremely sensitive to the gastric irritant effects of hydrogen peroxide and giving any amount by mouth can have severe negative effects that can lead to death. If your pet ingested something you are concerned may be toxic, call your veterinarian or Pet Poison Helpline right away before attempting to perform any treatments at home.

Fine particles from the polluted air can reach deep into your pets lungs and impact their health. Please keep your pets inside as much as possible, no long walks or exercise outside. Weโre talking short potty breaks!!! Health concerns can include eye irritation and respiratory issues.
If you are concerned about the lack of exercise for your high energy dogs while we have these air quality warnings you can utilize food puzzles, training sessions indoors and brain games to expend some of that energy! ๐พ๐พ stay healthy and safe out there! โค๏ธ

Unfortunately we have approached black fly season. Black fly bites start as small bright red round skin lesions that spread out into "bullseye" lesions over a day or two. They typically don't require any treatment, although some dogs can find them itchy and will occasionally lick at them. Typically these spots are not bothersome to your dog and resolve on their own in about a day or two!
PSA regarding electronic fencing: just a friendly reminder to be careful if you have or are using a form of electronic fencing for your yard if you have pets that go outside.
Electronic fencing unfortunately cannot control the other animals that are able to go in or out of your yard, which may potentially cause problems. Other dogs that get loose may trespass, and result in possible dog fight or worse. We have also recently been informed of two separate families in the area that have lost a pet due to suspected coyote attacks. May is common month that we see more coyote and fox movement as it is their breeding season. This doesnโt mean these animals are bad, we just need to be aware of their presence!
Yes sometimes animals can jump fences, but there is a difference seen when a physical barrier is involved, especially when pets are unsupervised.
Please be mindful of the environment, especially at night, and consider modifications of your yard if needed.
Do you have any expired, left over or unused medications from your current or previous pets? Please look into National Drug Take Back Day as a way to correctly dispose of unneeded medications.
Please see flyer below!

Contrary to popular belief, the fall is a very active season for ticks ! Make sure your pets are continuing to receive their flea and tick prevention through the year. Ticks can survive as long as the weather stays above 30ยฐ. When snow begins and temperatures drop, ticks have no issue hibernating in leaf cover and reappearing as soon as itโs warm enough again!
This past week, we collected all of the ticks that we removed from patients that had been seen in our hospital. Contrary to popular belief fall is the most active time for ticks. Clearly, ticks are INCREDIBLY small and often times difficult to see before biting and feeding on your pet. This is why it is so important to continue your flea and tick prevention not only in the spring and summer months, but all year long. Lyme disease is very prevalent in our area. Protecting your furry family members also helps to protect everyone else in your home from Lyme disease! ๐พ
