This is a true story!
17 year-old Juliane Koepcke was sucked out of an airplane in 1971 after it was struck by a bolt of lightning. She fell 2 miles to the ground, strapped to her seat and survived after she endured 10 days in the Amazon Jungle.
After ten days, she found a boat moored near a shelter, and found the boat's fuel tank still partly full. Koepcke poured the gasoline on her wounds, an action which succeeded in removing the maggots from her arm. Out of 93 passengers and crew, Juliane was the only survivor of the LANSA flight 508 crash that took place December 24th, 1971.

I recently saw a video of a so called martial arts instructor "teaching" his class how to break boards. He struggled to break this same board (equivalent to a 2.25" wooden board). He made several weak attempts with one of his students holding it. This is one take, one try, and in mid air.

Thanks to the ladies who came out for the Self Defense class! We were so involved in teaching, we forgot to take pictures. Oh well, next week! It's not too late for the ones that couldn't make it to come on out!

This is an excellent post. Its a hard hitting reality. I agree with his "3 major factors": Agression, Technique, and Athleticism. Every person in a fight has a combination of those 3 components. It's like an equation. The combatant with the greatest sum of those 3 wins. You must train them all to increase your chances of surviving a real life altercation.

This is a drill that I created to help with timing and targeting. Normally we use footwork to control distance and zone the opponent. This is only a static drill.
