KCAS's Response to COVID-19

Studio 9: Closed until April 29
Grand Opening & April Classes: Canceled
"Figure & Portrait" Sessions, Open Studio Hours, Members' Potluck, Crit. Group: Suspended until further notice

After months of planning and hard work, we made these difficult choices for several reasons. We share semi-public space in the Thorndike Building and we can't control or sanitize all spaces. We have a high proportion of high-risk (60+-year-old) participants working in close proximity, we occupy a small, enclosed room with poor ventilation, we depend on volunteers to clean, we are an "open" group without checks on attendees' health, and we have artists among our subscribers who recently have traveled widely.

Please note that those who have paid in advance for classes or sessions can receive vouchers for future sessions or refunds.

The Art Loft is now the Knox County Art Society. Go to kcasmaine.org to find out more about exhibitions, life drawing, plein air outings, special presentations, and more.

KCAS will be offering classes in April, May, June in the Art Loft space.

Let's plan something that will work for you. Please send me your ideas for days of the week, time of day, and other preferences (n**e v. clothed, short poses v. long poses, with instruction or not, etc.) Thanks!

‘When Storms Collide’
It often occurs in nature as it does in life, things hit all at once. It takes all our courage, our strength, most of which we never knew we had to handle it. And it takes a team. Especially when it comes to life-changing medical traumas and diseases. Collectively we are stronger, we build each other up and hold each other up. We can each take a role and not have to feel the weight of the circumstance alone.
We dedicate this image to our dear, sweet, June resident Kimberly Ann Nicoll.
She has handled the news of her ovarian cancer with dignity and grace and is now on a mission to support cancer awareness initiatives with her story and her art.
All proceeds from the sale of Karen Olson’s work at the Art Walk show tonight will go toward cancer-related expenses for Kim.
