This year our students will be teaming up with Penelope, our adorable 7-month-old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix, to dive into the world of service dog training. With Penny by their side, they will learn everything from the basics of dog care to the advanced skills needed for a service dog to thrive!
✨ Our journey will begin with Penny working towards her Canine Good Citizen certification, a vital step in her path to becoming an Autism Support Dog. With the help of our expert veterinarians, dog behaviorists, and therapy dog handlers, our students will help Penny master skills like deep pressure therapy, elopement prevention, mobility support, and routine reminders.
But it’s not just about Penny – our students will also grow as handlers, gaining confidence and achieving their own social and personal goals!

🤔 Should students disclose their autism when applying to college?
Should they disclose to staff, professors or peers once they begin attending college?
We discussed these questions and more in this session, Autism Disclosure and College, at the Philadelphia Autism Project Annual Conference: Embracing Intersecting Identities Through Allyship and Advocacy.
Educational Objectives:
✔ Explain the pros and cons of disclosing one’s diagnosis when applying to and attending college.
✔Describe some strategies or tools that can be implemented when requesting accommodations.
✔Identify resources to further learn and prepare for disclosures.

New options this Fall for students at CLE Nashville at Columbia State Community College at Williamson County with the Arts and Technolgy Building now open.
New addition to Columbia State-Williamson enhances technology and arts programs Columbia State Community College’s (CSCC) Williamson Campus unveiled an innovative new building on Thursday that will help propel students into exciting futures.
| Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed a bill last week that establishes a state-level promise program to cover tuition and fees for up to two years at trade schools and community colleges, as well as four-year institutions—a rare provision in such plans.
The bill, called the Incentives for Post-Secondary Education, passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. It creates the Colorado Promise: Two Free Years of College Expanded, which uses a last-dollar tax credit—instead of grants or up-front subsidies—to cover 100 percent of tuition and fees for up to 65 credits for all students in good standing with a household income of $90,000 or less. Scheduled to go into effect next fall, the new plan augments existing promise programs offered by individual institutions, which generally cover one year’s worth of credits with an income cap of $60,000 to $70,000. https://bit.ly/3VaI4El
