When the AC goes out in GTM and it's hotter inside than outside (84 degrees)🔥🥵...you bring your American Poetry class to the quad and find some shade. Good thinking Dr. Singer!

Banned Books Day 2023

10/03/2023

School of Literature and Language Banned Book Day 2023 - Wednesday, October 4th * 10 am to Noon * GTM Shakespeare Garden.

"When we ban books, we're closing off readers to people, places, and perspectives. But when we stand up for stories, we unleash the power that lies inside every book. We liberate the array of voices that need to be heard and the scenes that need to be seen. Let freedom READ!"

Check out this amazing opportunity! 🤩

We are thrilled to announce that the School of Design and School of Literature and Language is offering a joint study abroad program in the United Kingdom in Summer of 2024! If interested, we encourage you to attend a preliminary informational meeting on Wednesday, May 3 in GTM 105 at 4:15 pm. The 4-5 week program at Oxford University (or possibly London) will include two cross-listed courses. One course—taught by Dr. Mary Springer—is Art-Architectural History focusing on British art and architecture with emphases on the nineteenth century, Oxford, and British influences on United States campuses. The other course—taught by Dr. Scott Levin—will concentrate on British literature tied to the culture of Oxford (we may very well also be offering ENGL 211, the British literature survey for interested students outside of the liberal arts). This invaluable experience will include visits to a wide variety of important historical sites, museums, and landscapes.

Attend the interest meeting to learn more about the benefits of spending a month in the UK, as you get to immerse yourselves into British culture while also learning about diverse aspects of its art, architecture, and literature. If you cannot make this meeting and are still interested, please email either Dr. Springer ([email protected]) or Dr. Levin ([email protected]). We look forward to discussing this amazing opportunity further!
