As we are only a few short days away from the 2021 Minnesota State Fair we wanted to share a few updates/changes for The Dining Hall this year!
1. After 73 years we are finally able to accept credit cards!
2. Due to health and safety of our volunteers we will be operating in a ToGo format only. We will have 3 lines (most days) and our full menu.
3. Our indoor dining room will be closed to the public however we will have some limited seating outside so our customers can enjoy their meals!
A Few Commonly Asked Questions:
Yes, of course we have the Swedish Egg Coffee
Yes, we will have a our full breakfast menu including eggs made to order, homemade pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, huge cinnamon rolls, and French toast!
Yes, we will continue to have the lowest priced bottled water around!
Yes, we will have our full dinner menu from Thanksgiving in a bowl to freshly grilled burgers, split pea soup, homemade chili, and Swedish meatballs!
Yes, we will still have our delicious pies and ice cream for a sweet treat!
We are so excited to be back this year and can’t wait to see everyone again!

It’s that time of year again! Time to sign up for Salem’s Minnesota State Fair Dining Hall!
The State Fair runs from August 26th – September 6th. We’ll need many volunteers every day, so whether it’s your first time or you never miss it, please consider signing up!

Some Minnesota State Fair Experts visited us last summer!
It was a blast meeting them! Thanks for stopping by for some yummy full service breakfast!
After all these fair years we finally had a full breakfast at Salem Lutheran Church, complete with their famous Swedish Egg Coffee. It hit the spot SO hard, especially the breakfast sandwich!! And it’s FULL service!! Thanks for having us!

The Dining Hall History
One of two remaining church dining halls in the State Fair Grounds, Salem Dining Hall first started serving Swedish Egg Coffee back in 1949. 70 years later, the dining hall is still staffed completely by volunteers with a mission of promoting relationships, enriching an intergenerational feeling of community, and supporting the mission of the church... all in the name of the Lord!
Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church is in the Webber- Camden neighborhood in North Minneapolis, and has been there for 125 years. Salem specializes in hospitality and welcomes all people, regardless of gender, race, sexuality, nationality, or ability.
Our Mission
The Salem Lutheran Dining Hall works to promote relationships between all members and friends of Salem, to enrich a feeling of community among all ages, provide financial resources to support the mission of the church, and share God’s love with all people through hospitality.
