This month, we’re not just celebrating an Odyssey House staff member but also an incredible individual who has made significant strides since completing the Odyssey Program herself! For August, we’re excited to recognize Charlotte Waterbury, who serves as Transitional House Manager within one of our housing facilities.
After graduating from our program, Charlotte was offered a house manager position with Steps Recovery but always felt that Odyssey was where she truly belonged. When she learned of an opening in our Transitional Housing Program, she reached out and was hired for the role, which she has excelled in this past year.
As a house manager, Charlotte oversees a shared home of nine women, helping to provide basic needs and support on a human and emotional level. Even with these responsibilities, Charlotte also serves as a case manager with Clean Slate Utah, assisting individuals with the expungement process of their criminal records without the high costs of hiring a lawyer.
“It’s so important for me to stay close to Odyssey … I think the coolest part for me is that, having gone through my own life journey in figuring out what I like [to do], if you give a person in recovery a full day to do whatever, most of us don’t know because we’ve never had hobbies or spare time. So it’s cool to watch [these] women discover what they’re passionate about and discover what they like to do for fun, whether it’s hanging out with family or going camping or whatever. It’s great to see people finally able to develop their hobbies and passions.”
Charlotte, you’ve come a long way, and we appreciate all the support you provide to so many people! Thank you for all that you do – we know you’ll continue to achieve many great things!
