Summer fun can quickly turn dangerous if you're not aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Knowing the difference can help keep your little ones safe. Swipe to learn more ➡️

Here are some key things to know:
☀Heat Exhaustion:
-Heavy sweating
-Weakness or tiredness
-Dizziness or fainting
-Nausea or vomiting
-Headache
💦 For heat exhaustion, move to a cooler place, loosen clothing, sip water, and seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

Americans across the country will once again participate in the tradition of celebrating Independence Day with fireworks. Each year roughly 10,000 people, mostly children and teens, are injured from fireworks. These accidents vary from minor to serious burns and injuries, children ages 5-14 are at the most risk for this type of injury.

Our team at Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Cares understand that Hand, Foot, and Mouth (HFM) disease is a common childhood viral illness.

Did you know that HFM is most common in infants and young children, and that it is MOST prevalent during the summer and early fall?

One quick fact about Hand Foot and Mouth is that the incubation period is 3-5 days - meaning that children will usually develop symptoms 3-5 days after an exposure.

Hand Foot Mouth Return to School | Urgent Care Pediatrics Near Me Hand, Foot, and Mouth (HFM) disease is a common childhood viral illness. A child can return to school/childcare when fever-free for 24 hrs.

Summer is here in Texas! ☀️We wanted to share some safety tips for fun times by the pool this season.

1. Always ensure that children are supervised by an adult when they are in the pool, or near water

2. Teach children safety tips by modeling them - things such as not running near the pool can help by preventing falls and are easy skills that we as adults can model.

3. Use appropriate safety equipment for children, such as life jackets or flotation devices, especially for younger or less experienced swimmers. If you can, try to ensure that the pool area is equipped with safety measures like fences, gates, and alarms to prevent unsupervised access!

We hope these tips help you have a safe and fun time in pool!

Working under the supervision of providers and a Clinic Manager in an urgent care setting, the Medical Assistant will support clinic staff and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner within the Medical Assistant scope of practice and certification in accordance with Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care policies, practices/procedures, and applicable regulations.
The Medical Assistant will provide basic and routine assistance with patient care delivery and assist providers during examination and treatment.

Must be willing to travel as needed to other clinics.

Must be willing to work 12 hours shifts and rotating weekends.

Must have current Healthcare Provider BLS certification.

H.S Diploma or equivalent required.

Must be a Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistant with relevant work experience required.

Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care is seeking a Seasonal Front Office Specialist This position will provide support for multiple clinics. The front office specialist is responsible for telephone communications to include answering multiple phone lines, screening calls, recording messages, transferring calls to the appropriate department and returning calls as indicated. Responsibility includes greeting patients, physicians, and vendors, verifying patient information and insurance coverage, preparing patient charts for office visits, and collecting co-payments or deductibles for office visits.
Front Office Specialist:

Greets patients/customers, insurance verification, data-entry into EMR, basic math skills, collecting co-payments/deductibles/balances, answers phones, end of day balancing.

Must be organized and detail oriented.

0-2 years’ experience in front office clinic/urgent care setting.

Experience with MS Word and MS Excel

Knowledge of HIPAA, ability to work independently and as a team.

Must have a pleasant disposition with a desire to provide great customer service.

Knowledge of office equipment to include fax, and copy machine.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Must be willing to travel as needed to other clinics
