July's Volunteer of the Month is Guest Experience Volunteer Joe Hely! 🌟

Joe started volunteering at the Alamo in November 2023! His favorite thing about the Alamo is being able to discuss the history of the Alamo with visitors.

"Joe is a relatively new volunteer, only becoming a docent 7 months ago. However, in this short time, he has made a huge impact. A member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, Joe is committed to preserving the legacy of the Alamo Defenders and teaching their story to future generations. In recent surveys, Joe was mentioned many times by Alamo visitors. Guests complimented Joe on his explanation of how big the Alamo was and the development of San Antonio around the mission. We are grateful that Joe emphasizes the structural changes of the Alamo over the centuries." - Kevon Hunter, Volunteer Program Coordinator.
