🔆BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT 🔆

Meet Sarah Brandt ⬇️
Music has always been a part of my life, growing up we had a piano in the house and I would spend hours of our free time playing and singing everything from traditional folk songs to show tunes to the Beatles and of course at the holidays Christmas carols. I joined the choir and band in Middle School and then was thrilled when I tried out for the high school Concert Choir at the end of 8th grade and got in! That was 1974 and the first time I met Rick Bjella. a recent college graduate in his first teaching job in little Ripon, Wisconsin population 7,000. . Rick was an amazing choral director and I was lucky to be in his Concert Choir, Madrigal Choir and take private lessons with him. He took the choir on tour, we staged Lil Abner, Amahl and the Night Visitors and Carousel and had some amazing concerts. Jump 40+ years and I am living in San Antonio listening to NPR on my way to work and they started interviewing a “Rick Bjella” about an upcoming concert. I knew it had to be him! I got tickets to the SACC concert and reconnected. So here we are 50 years later and I am now working with Rick to bring great choral music to San Antonio by serving on the San Antonio Chamber Choir Board of Directors!

03/19/2024

Our May concert centers around Eric Whitacre’s most recent major work, The Sacred Veil. This multi-movement work features a series of poems written about the librettist Charles Anthony Silvestri’s relationship with his late wife Julie, her battle with ovarian cancer, and the grief he experienced as a result of her passing in 2005.

This concert is sure to be touching in many unique ways.

12/18/2023

We are truly grateful for each and everyone of you who shared time with us this weekend! We wish you a wonderful holiday season!

See you in May!
