Congratulations to our two parent volunteers and our parent liaison who were honored tonight at the district’s family engagement recognition ceremony! Parent Ms. Zavala had our highest amount of parent volunteer hours and Ms Herrera had the second highest amount of volunteer hours. Ms. Joanna Martinez is our parent liaison and she is available Tuesday-Thursday mornings to assist parents with any needs
Today we had an Academic Gator Gala where students who met and exceeded standards last year on the state test received a special recognition and had dinner together. This week and next week students are finishing math testing so we are looking forward to all the scholars who will be at our gala next year because we know our scholars are trying their best on the state test this year in third through sixth grades. Congratulations to all our brilliant scholars!
Today our parents and staff celebrated Children’s Day. A day to recognize children and focus on the importance of loving, accepting and appreciating them! Thank you to all the parent volunteers and staff who made our campus look more beautiful today with all of the decorations! All students had pineapple ice treats (pinaneadas) at dismissal too!
Our office superheroes make the school go 'round and we could not operate without them! We celebrated them all week for administrative professional's day this week! If you haven't met them, these superheroes are here to serve you and meet your needs:
-Ms. Teresa, bilingual clerk who is currently working out of class as secretary
-Ms. Elizabeth, attendance clerk
-Ms. Ilse, health aide
-Ms. Joanna, parent liaison
-Ms. Leslie, intern
Ms. Dulce Bec, our school psychologist, briefly flew in between her psychoeducational evaluations to join the group photo!
Thank you to all our superheroes! Our school could not operate without your hard work, commitment and dedication!
Our first grade Dual Immersion teacher Ms Arroyo Paz wrote a bilingual play about the lifecycle of a butterfly and today students presented it in both languages. They had three sessions for parents and adults to watch and then they ran various sessions so that other classes could come and see. Our students memorized their lines, acted out in both languages, sang in both languages, and created costumes. It was amazing! Check out all these pupas, chrysalises, caterpillars and butterflies singing their English song!
Happy administrative professionals day to our fabulous office staff who helps the school run each and every day. Thank you for everything you do to Ms Teresa, Ms Elizabeth, Ms Ilse, Ms Leslie and Ms Alex who has been subbing for us! Please feel free to stop by and show them you appreciate them if you would like!
The summer school registration deadline is quickly approaching! Registration closes tomorrow. If you need any help with registering please contact the office and Ms. Teresa will also be outside by the front gate today and tomorrow after school to help with registration. Anyone registering after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list.
As a reminder, state testing starts tomorrow for fifth and sixth grades!
Ms. Berganza's kinder class was caught today working hard at using manipulatives to "count collections!"
We had a great turnout for our Family Fitness night! Thank you to our fabulous PE teacher Mr. Alvarado!!
Tomorrow starts the first day of state testing for grades 3-4 in the area of language arts. Students will be testing Tuesday-Thursday and Dual Immersion classes will also test on Friday.
Thank you to San Bernardino Police Department for joining us at career day!
We have been doing so much hard work with reducing our chronic absenteeism and we are excited to announce that we have reduced it by -15% this year thanks to the very hard efforts of our parents and staff! Our school is #2 in the district for elementary schools with a decrease in chronic absenteeism. Our Pacific cluster neighbor Fairfax was #1 and knocked it out of the park with a -22.8% decrease so congrats to them as well! The district average was a decrease of -6.6% of chronic absenteeism so thank you to all parents for helping us exceed the district average! Chronic absenteeism means that students have been absent for 10% or more of the days that school has been in session. Being chronically absent impacts students' learning, achievement, sense of belonging at school, motivation and much more. All it takes is one day to miss important content that was taught and students can have difficulty in catching up if they keep missing too many days. Attendance matters! Thank you to all the parents and staff who have put so much effort into ensuring that our scholars are at school and engaged in learning. Woot woot!
Gator Nation had a fabulous Career Day today! Thank you to all of the amazing guest speakers we had in attendance today! You peaked the interest of our scholars to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals! 🐊👏🥰
Summer school registration is open now! Please watch this video if you need any help with how to register! Any parents who need assistance with Aeries parent portal may also contact our parent liaison Ms. Joanna Martinez. The video in Spanish has been placed in the comments section below.
Today our third grade students had the opportunity to go on a field trip to University of Southern California, USC. They went on a tour of the campus and learned about university life. Thank you to Mr. Michael Santos, our third grade teacher Mrs. Santos' husband, who is Director of Upward Bound at USC-he provided our students with some USC student volunteers to share their experiences with students. Check out the welcome sign they made us!
The actor Tony Plana will be in the area tomorrow and is visiting Anton at 4:30 to talk to any interested parents who would like to know more about his Broadway Now program that will be available to students at Anton. A special thank you to Immanuel Baptist Church for donating 30 Thanksgiving dinners to our families. We are also very appreciative of one of our parents Ms Kandice Zavala who came to the school to help pass out dinners, remind parents etc. Thank you to Immanuel and Ms Zavala for your service of our community ❤️❤️
