This bakery started because we fell in love and really is our love story. The bakery also represents our chosen family as Sam’s relationship with his parents ended when he came out to them back in 2018 so we pour so much of our hearts into this bakery. It’s not always rainbows and sunshine but every step and every encounter has been either rewarding or a learning lesson. And we continue to forge our path forward through it all because we have each other and our growing mochi fam by our side❤️

It’s a good thing rainbows are everywhere because not too long ago, no one dared to put bright Pride rainbows on display. Pride is and forever will be a resistance and fight for equality and our rights to exist. So the face that we see rainbows everywhere now, that’s progress. Yes, yes - even the rainbows at large corporations, it means something and it’s steps in the right direction, something that was unimaginable as recent in the 70’s and 80’s - so let’s celebrate! We are incredibly grateful for the incredible support we have received over the past almost 2 years, and we want to sincerely thank you for being a part of our journey. We have cherished the opportunity to build friendships with many of our customers in SF, our lovely neighbors, and the generosity and kindness shown to us by the Inner Sunset community and beyond.

We signed this lease over 3 years ago in a very different time and economy; and despite our steady growth at this new location, we have faced persistent challenges in finding and retaining experienced team members. This has caused a strain on our existing store operations and overall well-being as we expanded our footprint into SF. As we do not anticipate an improvement in this situation in the near future, we made the difficult decision to sell our location while it is performing well to MOMO TEAS, another AAPI owned small food business offering Asian snacks and drinks!

We are also moving towards more curated ways to engage with our customers; starting with matcha and tea workshops, that we are so excited to bring to life to you very soon out of our Berkeley headquarters. And finally be able to offer our factory tours in Berkeley to see the behind the scenes of our mochi muffins and donuts coming to life. Our Origin Store in Berkeley and our Walnut Creek locations remain open regular hours. And we hope you will visit one of our many beautiful wholesale partners that carry our mochi goodies throughout the city and beyond.

We want to express our deepest and sincerest gratitude to the neighborhood at large because we absolutely fell in love with the Inner Sunset and where our shop is (hello cherry blossom trees right out front?!) and like to thank our neighbors and community for warmly welcoming us when we opened our doors.

With a heavy heart, we announce our Inner Sunset location's last day of operation will be this coming Sunday June 2nd.

An Anniversary For The Books!

Our 7th Anniversary was one for the books!! Thank you SO much to those that came out to celebrate with us all weekend. Y'all braved the rain to come out Saturday and then y'all were flexible and so understanding and came out on Sunday for the rescheduled drag show.

We always say that we have absolutely the BEST customers and we mean it every time. We know it, our staff knows it, and we're sure you know it too - because y'all are truly the best.

From the bottom of our squishy mochi hearts, thank you for being with us for seven years of resilience, pride, courage, perseverance, and of course - MOCHI MAGIC!

As current economies and times make it increasingly difficult for small businesses like us to survive and it seems like there's a new challenge or dumpster fire every day in the world that tries to set us back - we're SO grateful to be here and keep serving our customers with beautiful mochi creations and host drag shows for kids and families, and make use of all the pink decorations this world has to offer!
