The Board of Directors and Members of ONYX Northwest stand in solidarity with our Brother Tracii ONYX and his experiences of sexual harassment inflicted by the current reigning Emperor of the Imperial Court of San Francisco.
We are deeply saddened, frustrated and angry that these incidents, patterns of behavior and complaints have not been addressed more appropriately by the Imperial Court. The lack of accountability that the Imperial Court has taken to address the action of its Emperor/Aggressor is unprofessional and detrimental to our communities. This lack of accountability is a complete failure to ensure the safety of a BIPOC member in its very own court.
As a member of ONYX Northwest and Imperial Prince of the Court of More is MORE! (Prince of the Purple Rain), Tracii has not only worked tirelessly to create a bond between the Leather Community and the Imperial Court of San Francisco, but has also expanded that vision of connectedness and inclusivity to the broader q***r community through various events/fundraisers, such as CUIR | A Night in Black Leather.
To the Court: QT-BIPOC people already face insurmountable difficulty feeling comfortable to come forward and share their experiences of sexual harassment. Having a member of your court walk away feeling gas lit and ashamed on top of being harassed is not acceptable, it’s disgraceful!
We INSIST the Imperial Court re-evaluate its actions and responses, perform a thorough investigation into this complaint with the seriousness it merits and show a genuine and decisive effort at Restorative Justice. What this means is that the Imperial Court needs to understand and follow through with what corrective actions our Brother Tracii ONYX needs and requires in order to feel that accountability is being provided. The Imperial Court does not get to decide how to keep themselves accountable to our brother or how to correct their own actions. Being able to correct your actions based on the accountability someone needs, shows our community that you have the capacity to grow, adapt and help our community feel connected to you. Anything less makes you complicit and risks every member of our community.
To our Allies: We ask for your support by standing with our Brother Tracii and demanding the Imperial Court of San Francisco take accountability for its Emperor/Aggressor, ensure real action, live up to its values, and condemn any/all acts of sexual harassment by its court candidates, members and alumni.
