Congrats to Laura and all the participants!

"I’m excited to have discovered this group, and I am impressed with how people encourage and support each other. I am interested in improving my Spanish and general communication skills. I moved from New York City to San Jose because of a man I met at a wedding, and we have now been happily married for thirty-five years.
I have a Master’s in Psychology and worked as a counselor, and later at a winery and in filmmaking. I teach gardening classes in both English and Spanish. My passions are edible organic gardening, bicycling, and reading." -Laura

We had a fantastic meeting yesterday with Losoradores Toastmasters. Our President Lili did a phenomenal job leading the joint meeting on "What does home mean to you." We learned that for some home means: feelings of peace or happiness, a family home, picture frames and candles. Thank you to Los Oradores for embracing our theme, we enjoyed connecting with you and learning from one another. 🏠❤️😄

Please give a warm welcome to our new member Lissete. She is a first-generation Mexican American. Her father immigrated from Mexico and mother from El Salvador. She was the first college graduate in her immediate and extended US family. She now lives in Portland, Oregon, even though most of her family is located in Southern California.
Lissete serves on the board of Rahab’s Sisters who create community by serving women and diverse gender through radical hospitality.
A week prior to attending her first meeting, she heard two individuals talk about Toastmasters. She considered it a sign to see what it was all about. She wants to improve and practice her Spanish skills. Living in Portland for almost 10 years has brought her closer to nature, but further from her culture. She is hoping Toastmasters will give her the extra push to improve both her Spanish skills and into the culture she knows and loves. star✨🇲🇽

We also had the opportunity to hear from two speakers: Yolanda entertained us with a humorous speech, and Noemi inspired us with her Q & A session on joining and being part of Toastmasters for several years.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, December 30th 630pm-8pm. For this meeting, we will try something special, giving toasts/brindis in English or Spanish. ✨😄
