This spring we traveled back to Pacific Grove California for one of our very last shoots on this 12-year journey. One of the things that made this trip very special is we worked together with our kids and of course our Yo puppets. We also made some other miniatures for this trip including our well-loved long gone 2002 Subaru wagon and tiny monarch butterflies.

This winter Banker and I have been building a scale model Yo’s neighborhood in Pacific Grove. Building the streets and little houses while referencing street view, made me feel like I was back in PG. Having moved far away from California this was a warm welcome feeling... I wondered "is this Nostalgia”? Read more: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/heaven-through-the-backdoor/reports/

Thank you all so much for your continued support of this project. 2024 will mark ten years since the Genius of Marian was broadcast on POV and we have a very special initiative planned for this milestone. Next year we will be launching our own streaming platform to make The Genius of Marian, a Marriage to Remember and all The Genius of Caring short films and materials available free of charge to the public. The site will also be purpose built to help facilitate community screenings with our non-profit partners.

We are also thrilled to announce that The Genius of Marian was just invited to be preserved in a collaborative effort between the Library of Congress and the WGBH Educational Foundation (GBH) to make significant historical content accessible to the public. My mother spent her life trying to help other people and we could not be more proud to have her story and this project continue her compassionate work.

This , Please join us in supporting Independant Media. The WeOwnTV Idriss Kpange Filmmaker Fellowship is a regional film fund and professional development program supporting the production of independent documentaries directed by West African filmmakers living in the region. The program was founded in the wake of the West African Ebola outbreak. The program provides filmmakers with funding for their projects, creative labs, one-on-one mentoring, and professional development. Today when you donate to support, GlobalGiving will match your generosity for .

We are remaining the fellowship in honor of Idriss Kpange. He was one of Sierra Leone's leading filmmakers and worked as a video journalist for Reuters, as well as for local networks. He was a dear friend to many of us at WeOwnTV and was dedicated to training and mentoring young filmmakers. Tragically Idriss died on 15 February 2022 at 43 years old. WeOwnTV is proud to continue his legacy through this fellowship program. Please support our efforts to relaunch the fellowship in his name in 2024.

You can read more about the Filmmaker Fellowship and program alumni projects at https://www.weowntv.org/fellowship. If you have any questions about the project or this match opportunity please reach out to us directly at [email protected]

Support Mirabel Pictures creatives Anna Fitch and Banker White as they prepare to share their bold and beautiful art project with the world. Heaven Through the Backdoor is now more than a decade in the making and we are raising funds to support our outreach campaign. Today when you donate to support, GlobalGiving will match your generosity for . https://goto.gg/33013
Part myth, part documentary, Heaven Through the Backdoor explores identity, judgment and spirituality through the unconventional friendship between Anna & Yo -- two kindred spirits born 49 years apart.
Using intricately built miniature sets and other creations, the film juxtaposes intimate vérité of Yo’s last year with Anna’s wildly imaginative interpretations of her stories.
The final work will include a feature-length documentary film and an interactive gallery exhibition that features a one-third scale version of Yo’s house, made objects and media elements.
We are immensely proud of this project and any support will help us meet our fundraising goal would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions about the project or this match opportunity please reach out to us directly at [email protected].
