Just two and a half years ago, the Frank and Joan Randall Preserve was an active oil field. Today, it’s being transformed into a public park that will benefit people and wildlife, and honor the Indigenous history rooted in the land. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity not only for nearly 8.4 million residents within an hour’s drive of the land to connect to nature, but also for a state where only three percent of wetlands are still intact and coastal open space is limited for public use. It serves more than 10,000 people within a 10-minute walk, and together, we’ll create a space that reflects the community’s multiculturalism and resilient history. Learn more.

They bring us into contact with new landscapes. They bring us in touch with our neighbors and our communities. With support from Altra Running, we’re safeguarding Vermont’s White Rocks Gateway that leads to the Ice Beds, White Rocks National Recreation Area, and the wilderness of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and the Long Trail. Check out this video, narrated by TPL National Board Member and Altra Ambassador Florence Williams to learn more about how Altra is working with TPL to connect more people to the outdoors.

Juneteenth is much more than a day in a distant past. It's a commemoration and celebration of Black Americans using land for their own purposes.
"Black people have been leveraging public land for our collective benefit for a long time. Street festivals, church picnics, cookouts, family reunions, and Juneteenth celebrations happen on public land—and represent a consistent way we connect to public land. They are places where Black folks can see our own beautiful reflections and share that beauty with the next generation. These events provide the opportunity to use land—the same land our ancestors worked on and invested in—as a space to exert our freedom." - Dr. Jocelyn Imani, TPL National Director of Black History and Culture. Did you know a schoolyard’s asphalt surface can reach 149 degrees on a hot California day? Unsafe and (literally) uncool! By investing $1 billion in the state’s Education Bond, California can reimagine schoolyards as green powerhouses—with new trees, shrubs, grass, and climate-smart surfaces—creating safe spaces for learning and play to improve test scores, boost health outcomes, and cool entire neighborhoods.
Editorial: California's next school bond should include money for grass, trees and green spaces on campuses As California lawmakers negotiate a multibillion-dollar school bond, they should include plenty of money to green up asphalt-dominated schoolyards.
