“Food waste” can be a confusing/gross?/scary term. But once you see that wasted food looks like these cukes here, it’s hard not to think wtf are these cute lil thangs going to waste for?!
Crooks & nubs are what they’re called, for their stubby and tapered bodies. They have sun spotting—the lighter colored bits—a totally natural occurrence. They’re also classified as worthless to most all commercial buyers.
BUT they’re even more perfect and expressive to us, and of course, taste amazing. You should know! These are the cukes you’ve been eating in all our jars of pickles 😊

During holidays celebrating bounty, it’s way too easy to think of wasted, excess food as “just part of the tradition.” The vast majority of food waste happens in the home, on days like thanksgiving, when we over buy, cook way too much, and waste a ton.

Real talk super quick!! 🎙✨ We’ve been a bit quiet on this front as we’ve been building our next big sustainability project, and wanted to make sure y’all know—we opening a restaurant, baby ! 😛❤️🔥🍕
was born out of the same environmental mission as —to make it easier for you to take climate action through your food. Through the pandemic, we’ve been challending ourselves to think, “how do we rescue an even greater variety of produce, at a more rapid clip?” With Shuggie’s Trash Pie, we’re able to take in the spontaneous, 100lb produce offers we get weekly, and incorporate them into rotating, seasonal pizzas and share plates, all to be gulped down with our favorite natural wines.
We want to democratize food waste action, which for us means doing the legwork of creating exciting, delicious food, at accessible prices, to make it a no brainer to do something good for the planet.
So follow along and come hang later this year once we open doors!! We can’t wait to feed you 🤠
