“How can we take the best of present and emerging technologies and create value for our primary customers – our students, families, and coaches? How can we obtain or build tools that address the reporting requirements of school districts and funders? How can we ensure that we’re benefiting SCORES coaches and students and not just benefiting a system?” These questions posed by SCORES Chief Technology Officer Pete Swearengen are driving our work behind SCORES Lab, a solutions hub for data gathering, data management, and data-driven decision-making hosted on open-source development platform Github. SCORES Lab was made possible through the tremendous support of volunteers from Salesforce and MuleSoft, who contributed thousands of hours in pro bono engineering and professional support to help us leverage technology without compromising quality or impact. This volunteer team continues to grow through our new partnership with Develop for Good, an organization that pairs college students and recent graduates with nonprofits to leverage their skills in engineering, design, and product management for social good. Summer is in full-swing, and our poet-athletes are staying active and having fun in our SCORES summer camp programs! SCORES camps are offered across the Bay Area and provide a safe and supportive space to learn soccer, stay healthy and fit, and make friends. As we kick-off the weekend, enjoy these highlights from our all-girls Selecta camp in San Francisco, which provides girls in 3rd - 5th grade with the opportunity to learn about women’s sports history, nutrition, poetry, and soccer! Meet Alicia, the Runner with a Cause!🏃‍♀️

Ever felt the pull of running for something bigger than yourself? For Alicia, this is more than a run; it's a mission. After seven years with America SCORES Bay Area, Alicia has witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact of the organization on all children in the Bay Area. Now, she's lacing up her running shoes again to run The San Francisco Marathon and raise funds for this incredible cause.

"I am proud to be part of the SCORES team, which provides opportunities that otherwise may not be available to underserved youth," Alicia shares. Despite the challenges, she's driven by the chance to support these "Poet-Athletes" who benefit immensely from the engaging program.

Eighteen co-ed corporate teams representing the best in Bay Area tech, finance, healthcare, and media battled it out in high-spirited competition at America SCORES Bay Area’s annual Corporate Cup Charity Soccer Tournament at the Beach Chalet Athletic Fields in San Francisco, demonstrating that exuberant athleticism and philanthropy make for a perfect match. The June event raised more than $180,000 to support SCORES’ soccer, literacy, and community service programs in 113 Bay area schools and locations. Fun and health came together at our first-ever SCORES Wellness Fairs, where our poet-athletes and their families had a blast learning about healthy living. Held on the San Francisco region’s final Game Days of the season, the fairs featured physical activities, healthy snacks, and health resources all in the goal to emphasize how small changes can lead to improved physical health. America SCORES is thrilled to announce the expansion of our operations into Miami with the launch of Miami SCORES Powered by Concacaf, the 13th and newest affiliate member of the international nonprofit! This expansion into Miami was made possible through significant support from Concacaf, one of FIFA’s six continental confederations, which is responsible for supporting its 41 member federations to develop the sport at all levels across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio, who was present at the launch, expressed his excitement about Concacaf’s involvement as the lead program sponsor, stating, “At Concacaf, we believe in the power of soccer - or football as we call it – to inspire and uplift communities. The launch of Miami SCORES Powered by Concacaf is a testament to our commitment to supporting youth development through this beautiful game.
