Inspired by each year's theme, Black Rock City’s Man Pavilion serves as the foundation upon which the Man will rise. “The Other,” designed by Jen Lewin, nests curious chambers beneath its tentacles. Meet the artists who will animate these chambers, inviting Black Rock citizens to gather, contemplate and play. We are honored to celebrate these dedicated creators for taking on the incredible task of building a pavilion that will leave us in awe. ✨

Have you encountered these artists or their work on the playa? How did it make you feel?

Burning Man opens doors that invite exploration and inspire people to become artists. Let's take a look at Valerie Mallory, who began her journey as an artist when she created work in Center Camp. Fast forward to 2024 where her dreamy casted sculptures have graced Black Rock City for more than two decades. Have you had the opportunity to experience her art in person?

Pro-tip: The simpler the bike, the better! 🚲

For the easiest cycling on the playa surface, the perfect playa bike has no gears and back-pedal brakes — ideally a single-speed beach cruiser with hefty tires. The playa turns any bike into a rustbucket in short order, so don’t bring your multi-thousand dollar mountain bike (or e-bike) unless you plan on doing some serious cleaning post-event. Many participants have a dedicated “playa bike” used exclusively for Black Rock City. Don't forget a lock, lots of blinky lights and fun decorations. You want to be visible at night... and be able to find your bike when you park it at that giant dance party.

There, they engaged in teaching and learning, conjuring ideas for the future, and shared their stories with our intrepid Documentation team. Hear passionate ELS participants speak about some of the wildly creative ways they bring the Burning Man global cultural movement to vibrant life in their home communities.
