Burning Man opens doors that invite exploration and inspire people to become artists. Let's take a look at Valerie Mallory, who began her journey as an artist when she created work in Center Camp. Fast forward to 2024 where her dreamy casted sculptures have graced Black Rock City for more than two decades. Have you had the opportunity to experience her art in person?

Pro-tip: The simpler the bike, the better! 🚲

For the easiest cycling on the playa surface, the perfect playa bike has no gears and back-pedal brakes — ideally a single-speed beach cruiser with hefty tires. The playa turns any bike into a rustbucket in short order, so don’t bring your multi-thousand dollar mountain bike (or e-bike) unless you plan on doing some serious cleaning post-event. Many participants have a dedicated “playa bike” used exclusively for Black Rock City. Don't forget a lock, lots of blinky lights and fun decorations. You want to be visible at night... and be able to find your bike when you park it at that giant dance party.

Burning Man Survival Guide 2024 BLACK ROCK CITY is a temporary metropolis built in Nevada’s beautiful, remote, and inhospitable Black Rock Desert. You are responsible for your own survival, safety, comfort, and well-being, and for Leaving No Trace. This Survival Guide will help you thrive at Burning Man.

We are working to accomplish three goals by 2030: to Handle Waste Ecologically, Be Regenerative, and Be Carbon Negative. Join us on July 19 to learn about our collective progress. In this call, we will discuss the impactful projects within Black Rock City and beyond that are driving our efforts to reduce environmental impact.

We’re thrilled to announce that several notable figures will join us to share their sustainability practices:

🟢 Peter Platzgummer, Complex Art Project Manager, will discuss sustainability in art and introduce the Temple of Together, highlighting their sustainability efforts for the 2024 Temple at Black Rock City.
🟢 Pablo Gonzalez Vargas will share the sustainability efforts of the Mayan Warrior.
🟢 Dakota Gruener, Astera Climate Fellow, will speak about carbon dioxide removal projects and our goal to Be Carbon Negative.
