BREAKING NEWS! No more CBEST or coursework reviews required to meet the basic skills requirement!

SB 153 (signed June 29th and effective immediately) eliminates the basic skills requirement (BSR) for teaching credentials that require a bachelors degree or higher. A bachelors degree from an accredited university will now satisfy the BSR without exams or coursework reviews. More details can be found here -

Garden Grove Unified School District was awarded a nearly $12 million state grant through the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) to fund eight Community Schools over the next five years. The CCSPP supports schools’ efforts to partner with community agencies and local government to align community resources to improve student outcomes.

GGUSD’s eight Community Schools include Eisenhower Elementary School, Heritage Computer Science Academy, Newhope Elementary School, Russell Elementary Language Academy, Doig Intermediate School, Fitz Intermediate Language Academy, and Los Amigos and Santiago high schools.

Future Educators - Are you interested in a unique opportunity to live on a university campus and take a class with other community college students? Check out the Summer Scholars Transfer Institute (SSTI) offered by Santa Ana College on the campus of the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

SSTI provides SAC/SCC students with the opportunity to take a 3 unit community college general education class while living in the dorms at UCI during the summer. The only cost to the student is the cost of the class and textbooks (CA Promise Grant will apply for eligible students).

SAC is now recruiting students for our Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship Program! Our inaugural cohort will start this Spring, and selected students will be offered a paid apprenticeship position at one of our Child Development Lab Schools.

Finding bilingual teachers with bilingual authorizations — a specialized credential required to teach English language learners — has become increasingly difficult.”

CSU Set to Offer Early Childhood Teaching Credential | CSU 04/06/2023

The credential will authorize graduates to teach all subjects in a general education classroom setting and to team teach or to regroup students across classrooms, in pre-kindergarten (PK) through 3rd grade.
