“As a blood cancer survivor, I am profoundly aware of the urgency of research and patient support in improving the lives and outcomes of people fighting blood cancer. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2009, when I was 60 years old. Two stem cell transplants later and then treatment with an immunotherapy that didn’t exist when I was first diagnosed, I’m in complete remission. I am so grateful for the research and support that made my life possible, which means we are grateful to the supporters who make LLS’s work possible. My wife Patti and I have talked a lot about how we can deepen our impact at LLS and in the lives of patients and families coping with blood cancer. I want to leave a legacy that touches lives like mine and my family’s have been touched, a legacy that offers hope and cures. Leaving LLS as a beneficiary in our estate plans is the most powerful way we could achieve that.
I am writing to ask you to consider joining us in making this profound impact. With your estate gift to LLS, you fund the future of their important work. It doesn’t require an immediate contribution, and there is no minimum amount required either. Most of all, you have the peace of mind knowing that you are leaving a legacy for future generations of blood cancer patients and families who need better treatments and compassionate support.” - Andy Gordon

"In 2020, I lost my dad to COVID complications. My dad was my world and would take the shirt off of his back for anyone. I searched for my WHY for a while and in 2022 we heard the story of Addi Conely and I immediately found my WHY. Hearing the story of Addi and others fighting a fight that they should never have to fight tore me apart. Hearing the stories of other little ones fighting the same fight that Addi went through keeps tearing me apart. For the last few years, I have worked hard to help bring awareness to childhood cancer with our high school strikeout cancer game. My WHY will always be to continue to bring awareness to this and help where I can. That’s why I light the night. That’s why I believe in this. And why I choose to volunteer my time and passion as the Challenge Chair here in the Inland Empire." - Richard
Thank you, Richard, for helping us impact the lives of patients and their families.

“I am a graduate student working on my Master of Public Health at SDSU with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. I began interning with LLS due to my interest in health education and the organization’s mission to increase health literacy and raise awareness of blood cancers and available resources for patients. My favorite part of LLS has been the amazing people I have been able to meet and work with!” - Emily

“I’m a Patient and Community Outreach Intern for LLS. I’m a fourth-year Public Health major at San Diego State University, with the goal of becoming an oncologist one day. Growing up in a tight-knit community in Kaua’i, Hawai’i taught me the importance of community support. Having a personal connection to the impact of blood cancers, the opportunity that LLS has given me to make a tangible difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones in both my hometown and my now second home of San Diego is invaluable to me. My favorite part of interning with LLS so far has been working alongside very supportive and passionate individuals on projects to raise awareness of blood cancers.” - Yuna
