How grateful we are to Ontraport for spending the morning with us, prepping computers that will soon go out to families across Santa Barbara County.

A huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers who participated in mock job interviews this week! 🙌👏 Your time and expertise have been incredibly helpful in preparing students for real-life job interviews. Your feedback and advice are invaluable and will help prepare students for other important interviews in their life. 👩‍💼👨‍💼

We are honored today to celebrate our very own Board Member, Joe Howell, Santa Barbara Person of the Year. Thank you, Joe, for being a key supporter in our community and doing it with such grace.

This week, our Job Readiness Training students-- 45 students from 8 different public high schools--attended a financial literacy workshop in either Santa Barbara, Lompoc, or Santa Maria! 💵 They learned about payroll forms, managing money, creating a budget, and investing for their future. The best part? All of the incredible questions students brought! Thanks to the amazing guest speakers and career coaches for working with students to provide such informative information.

This week our group of 15 volunteer career coaches led 50+ high school students through exercises to help them define their personal values and how they may align with certain careers. This workshop was first up in our 8-week series, each one covering an important career-related topic. BIG shout out to all our Career Coaches for their invaluable support.

Attention High School Seniors: The Edison Scholars application deadline has been extended to January 9th 2023!

This year, Edison International will award $50,000 college scholarships to 30 high school seniors to help them follow their dreams in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) and empower them to change the world.

56 high school students across Santa Barbara County completed the Job Readiness Training program last week! Our amazing volunteer career coaches led the workshops and provided students with guidance. The last two workshops were held in person, ending with a financial literacy workshop and celebration. Congratulations, students, and THANK YOU, career coaches and mock interviewers!

Please share with any currently enrolled, part-time OR full-time college students you know! We are hiring multiple students to serve as Literacy Tutors for our high impact tutoring program this year. WOW. It was an inspiring morning for a group of Partners in Education board members who toured Santa Maria Joint Union High School District's Career Technical Education Center and Agriculture Farm (CTECAF) today. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Robinson for providing such an informative tour.

We are very grateful to Ontraport for sharing so much time and talent with us last Friday--thanks to their THIRTEEN employee volunteers, 258 Chromebooks were refurbished in preparation for a new school year!

The Digital Divide still very much exists and Computers for Families works to ensure that every student, family, and adult across Santa Barbara County not only has access to a device if they need it, but also to training and education opportunities that empower them to use those devices effectively and safely. Thank you to the entire community for supporting this program for over two decades.
