The UCSB Gamelan Ensemble will present a concert showcasing gamelan, the celebrated gong orchestra of Indonesia, on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 5:30 pm in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall on the UC Santa Barbara campus!

Led by Richard North, the UCSB Gamelan Ensemble will showcase an ancient style of gamelan from Cirebon, West Java, featuring dynamic drumming, delicate melodies, and lively interlocking rhythms. Transcend yourselves at this concert!

The UCSB Choral Ensembles, led by Brent Wilson (Director of Choral Activities) present Vivaldi’s Gloria and Jocelyn Hagen’s The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, performed with a live orchestra, video projections, and guest artists Christina Pezzarossi Ramsey, conductor/mezzo-soprano, Kate Unger, soprano, and Ariana Horner Sutherland, soprano.

UCSB JAZZ CONCERT 🎷

"Strike up the Band" is a concert featuring famous works by famous bands, including Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Maria Schneider, Pat Metheny, Count Basie, Buddy Rich, and Duke Ellington. 🤩 We will also be celebrating our graduating students Moremi Kaplan, Owen Keveany, Atalia Zahrnt, Krish Jain, Chris Muray, Conor Mack, Henry Jurney, Allison Rigler, Cary Higgins, Emily Conway, and Liam Coggon, as well as students from our entire Jazz Ensemble and Combos program. From the romantic allure of the opera stage to captivating dance performances choreographed by Christina McCarthy (UCSB), all accompanied by a live orchestra of faculty and guest artists directed by Brent Wilson (UCSB, VCPA) every aspect of this gala is set to mesmerize audiences.

💐DMA Recital 💐
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Carthage College, classical pianist Shiqi (Sadee) Xu is a dedicated performer and teacher. She is currently a Doctoral of Musical Arts student at UCSB with Robert Koenig. For her DMA recital, Sadee will play works by Schubert, Debussy, and Brahms alongside Moni Simeonov on the violin.
