This Monday, October3, Valencia High School will host an active shooter training scenario that our local law enforcement and Santa Clarita school administrators will participate in. This scenario will take place in the morning and last through the early afternoon. This exercise is designed to provide our local law enforcement a 'model' situation that provides continued training for this type of scenario. Furthermore, school administrators will observe how to work with law enforcement during this training.

Those in the area at the time of the training may hear loud popping noises and other alarming sounds. Please know that real ammunition will not be used for this training and all entrances to the school will be closed and guarded for this exercise. Absolutely no student activities will take place on campus during this training.

We apologize for any inconvenience this training may cause our neighbors and local businesses. The Santa Clarita Sheriff's Department has notified our neighboring communities and nearby businesses of this training.

“We are thankful to the thousands of runners and volunteers, as well as spectators and sponsors, who built the Santa Clarita Marathon into one of Southern California's premier events.

After careful consideration, the unfortunate decision has been made to discontinue the Santa Clarita Marathon.
