Not much to see in this video. However, there is lots to hear.

1) regaining control of my breath.
2) the song says, “self awareness” and that was precisely what was going on in this video. I have not done bar muscle ups in a long time. I’m 14 lbs heavier than my competitive weight.
3) I realize I’m still competitive but far more for my athletes I coach now than for myself. I’m not hanging it up but realizing the shift.

Are you really not hungry or does the food you have chosen to eat to be healthy just not sound appealing?

This is a question I challenge people to think about.

Person A: hey do you want some tilapia and rice?
Person B: no thank you I’m not hungry.

4 minutes later
Person A: hey do you want to go grab pizza and a beer?
Person B: yeah let’s do it I that sounds like a good time.

We are conditioned to not want to do what does not appeal to us. If we put ourselves on a restricted diet of foods that are unappealing we will likely eat less often by default.

When is the last time you agreed to try that thing that your friend said, “ahh that’s terrible try this?”

When you observe underconsumption of calories as a whole year after year it’s saddening.

The calories we do see are not of great substance.

I know I know. If someone is overweight they are over consuming and not telling the whole story.

Maybe? Or maybe they are telling a story of poor food behaviors, empty calories, trauma around food, and likely far deeper.

BMR = the amount of calories a body requires for basic physiological function. A quick estimate is bodyweight in KG x 20.

Example: I weight 170 lbs/2.2 = 77kg x 20 = 1545 calories.

It’s a rough approximation. Add 10 percent for TEF (thermic effect of food) + NEAT (200-500) for activity (non exercise) + (200-500) exercise EEE = 2100 - 2700 for maintenance calories.

My body to stay the same requires somewhere between 2100-2700 too feel good and be properly cared for.

If I was eating only 1500 calories for the last several years it is only appropriate to believe I did some damage.

Now is the damage now the cause of body breakdown. Not likely it’s the fact that nothing has changed. I’m still giving my body less.

Don’t be afraid to try something different like nourishing your body, chewing your food, eating distraction free, eating Whole Foods, eating things that are nutrient dense. The list goes on.

1) did I live today like I want to live?

I’ve been asking myself this before the end of my days and most days I can say yes. Intentionally living. Some days there are areas I see I can improve. I’m glad I see them. This has helped me focus on pouring into others and living each day to the fullest.

What are you grateful for today? Look for it as you live it out.

💥 10 Year Milestone 💥

I am one of those people who loves celebrating milestones & achieving goals....right?? I’m sure not news to many.

March 2011 is a significant event in my life. It marked the start of a new chapter of an amazing story...my story with coach . You all have witnessed my life transformed over the years on social media and I’ve been reflecting on our journey with great love & pride.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge all of the hard work that went into making my transformation happen. I’ve invested 10 years...52 weeks a year (including vacations...mentally) on becoming who I am today. It wasn’t always easy & I fought hard often against obstacles that tried to block my path from reaching my goals.

My Coaching sessions with Matt are tailored to my needs & have naturally evolved over time. Matt has the innate ability to gradually reveal what's holding me back in reaching my goals in life & fitness. Through our sessions he always knows exactly what I need to get over my mental and emotional blocks...I’ve never met anyone who can reach my psyche in a way to help see my blind spots & getting me to look at things from a different perspective.

No matter where I am emotionally or mentally, he has always been in my corner to help me succeed & push me to look at things differently in staying on track towards my goals. This is a relationship that is a partnership & friendship. I can trust him to be a non-judgmental & as someone who is looking out for my best interest.

Reaching the next milestone in success would require hours of hard work & anyone who wants to do more tomorrow than they can do today should consider hiring a coach like Matt.

Matt!!!!!!! I’m not sure how we got to 10 years...it really feels like a blink of time. I truly appreciate you & your journey in helping me achieve my goals & thank you for never letting me give up.
