Sunday August 4th at 1pm Awgwshto Pires and the AP Records Band will bring a taste of Cabo Verde music to Scituate Heritage Days. We are sure they will have us all out of our seats and dancing.

We are pleased to announce the music line up for The Scituate Chamber of Commerce Scituate Heritage Days 2024. We have got something for everyone. Classic Rock, Disco, Country, Rhythm & Blues, Cabo Verde, and Motown. Come early and spend the day listening to some great music. in Scituate Harbor . Visit the artisans and vendors, enjoy lunch from one of our food trucks, grab a beer from the beer tent. It is going to be a great weekend.

The 2024 Sister City Project fundraiser calendars are here! Each calendar is $20, and gives you 35 separate chances to win a cash prize. Winners of the $100 prizes will also have a shot at the $1,000 prize.
All drawings for each day will be on August 4th during Scituate Heritage Days at the Sister City Booths. The winners will be contacted by email or phone. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for community events as well as student exchange programs with Scituate’s sister cities in France, Ireland and Cabo Verde. Scituate’s sister city committees are 100% volunteer.

Please contact your favorite Sister City Committee member if you would like to purchase a calendar. You do not need to be from Scituate to participate. We can accept payment via Venmo or Zelle and then send you a picture of your calendar which is printed with your ticket # if you’re not able to pick it up in person.

"THE VOLCANO'S LAST WISH" A Short Narrative Drama Film by Guenny K. Pires
Date-Tuesday, February 20th at 7pm @ The Reel Harbor Theater 1 Mill Wharf Plaza, Scituate, MA.
Event is free, suggested donations at the door $10
We will be raffling a Cape Verde theme basket valued @ $50-$100 (tickets1 for $10-3 for $20)

Join us on a journey to Chã das Caldeiras, Fogo, Cape Verde, and immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture of this beautiful village. "The Volcano's Last Wish" tells the story of a wise grandfather, the spiritual leader of the village, and his inquisitive grandson, Michel. As the grandfather's journey comes to an end, the film highlights the significance of storytelling and the connection it creates between generations. Through this touching tale, we are reminded of the importance of preserving our heritage and carrying forward our cultural legacy.

Following the screening, we are delighted to have visual artist, poet, historian and author Vasco Pires, Txan Film Productions & Visual Arts on hand to discuss the film and share his insights.

Our mission at the Scituate Sister City Project, Inc. is to create international friendships and foster cultural exchanges. We believe that events like the Foreign Film Festival are instrumental in achieving this goal. They not only entertain but also educate, creating a space for dialogue and understanding.

Since yesterday, the 21st, the Youth Center in the city of Cova Figueira has been the stage for the "Agricultural, Craft and Services Fair", an event that brought together some local producers in an initiative dedicated to promoting and valuing the region's products.

Under the motto "Promote and Value our Products", the fair highlighted a variety of products, from fresh farm items to local crafts and community services. The event was held as part of the municipality's festivities.

The Agricultural, Crafts and Services Fair not only highlighted the quality of local products, but also highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit of the Santa Catarina do Fogo community.

🌍 Exciting News in Scituate! 🌍

Have you noticed the vibrant new road signs around town? The new Scituate Sister Cities signs are finally here.

These signs proudly display the names and flags of our sister cities: France, Ireland, and Cape Verde.

The sister city project is a wonderful initiative that aims to foster strong relationships and cultural exchange between Scituate and these three magnificent countries.

On Wednesday, September 12th the Mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo, Cabo Verde, Alberto Nunes, and the Town of Scituate officially signed the Friendship Pact between the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo and Scituate.

This is the beginning of an extraordinary journey of friendship and cultural exchanges between the towns.
