I bought an e-bike with one of those pandemic government checks in late 2020. I didn’t have a habit developed yet so it wasn’t until spring that I really started commuting, a 10-mile round trip up and over Beacon Hill to S**o and back. About 2/3 of my ride is well protected, and 1/3 is on a busy highway-like stretch of Airport Way South, which frankly sucks during rush hours but whatever. I just hit the 4,000 mile mark this week, and I absolutely agree with this woman that there is a connection to nature, the critters and clouds, the plants and trees and their cycles and smells and the changing light that feeds my nervous system a healthy dose of “you are ok”. Plus movement, head-clearing time in rhythmic movement, and that helps my feelings move, helps me break out of any emotional eddies I might get caught in. 10/10, would recommend.
