Northwest Tastings is a satellite tasting room for White Heron Cellars in Pike Place Market with a great view overlooking the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
Not only do we get to drink wine but we get to look out over this view. Cheers!
Springtime in the Market.
Another sunset from the heart of one of the prettiest city settings in the world. We did live in Switzerland so.... There has to be a color in that sunset that matches the yolk in the eggs from our free range chickens. They're convinced that spring is coming and they're laying away. Come on by and pick some up.
The last sunset of 2023 and a nice one it is. And we will be open for the first sunset of 2024. Cheers!
Its that time of year where we get great sunsets from our place. In addition we currently have spiced red wine, served warm, made from an authentic medieval recipe.
Even on a rainy day there's breaks in the clouds - more than enough reason to raise a glass of wine in celebration!
The first few days of March in the Market bring out the daffodils. Warmer days are ahead so now is a good time to come down and enjoy the sunset views from our place before the crowds start to come. Cheers!
Lots of reflection in this photo with a candy cane big wheel outside.
December in the Market.
Shorter fall days mean we get to watch great sunsets behind West Seattle. I've seen some truely epic ones although the current weather pattern of cloudless blue skies means the sunsets aren't as interesting. Instead we get to watch the sun sparkling off the blue waters of the Salish Sea.
I'd have to say its pretty obvious that Christmas is around the corner. This is Down Under, the part of the Market that we inhabit and as you can see decorations are up! To get in the proper spirit, come by and try our warm spiced wine to get the chill off the bones.
The fall afternoon sun is moving south and briefly lighting up the wine display. Not long enough to heat it up, just enough to make the bottles sparkle.
Happy Swiss Independence Day to everybody out there. If you don't have a Swiss Club close to hand come on by NWT and raise a glass!
The trees are leafing out with spring in the air. I have a book that claims that wines become particularly vibrant as their vineyard of origin begins to experience bud break. That is happening now so you can come by and check out this theory. Cheers!
As always the light over the Salish Sea is fascinating and definitely makes the Amigne taste better!
Lot of pretty light patterns in a Seattle spring and one of the best places to watch it all is our tasting room in Pike Place. And it's indoors which means the temperature is consistent. Cheers!
Another day in the tasting room. The Market is getting back to normal. And we're the best deal for a glass of wine in all downtown - $6 for white and $8 for red. Wines that truly express their terroir.
Even on a rainy day there's always something fun to see at the Market. And something fun to do, we're warm and dry inside with wine ready to pour.
Closing up for the night and heading back to the vineyard but Josh will be here tomorrow for more sunset viewing!
Happy Valentine's Day to all!
Always fun watching the wheel this time of year and in addition to our usual wines we have a medieval recipe of warm spiced wine.
Of course we're open, what's a little snow to Pike Place Market?
Cheers!
How to find us....
Frequently the stormy days create the funnest light patterns. We're warm and toasty inside, Malbec by the glass and 'Marley on the box'.
Ready for another day of welcoming people to try our wines with a view over the Salish Sea.
It might be a grey day but we'll be open with fun wine, beer, and food to celebrate the Market's 114th birthday. It actually rained on the Market's opening day, imagine that! Here's to many more Market birthdays!
We can see Starbuck's headquarters from Northwest Tastings (NWT). We used to send hate in their general direction because of Mr. Shultz selling the Sonics. However awhile ago we realized that Mr. Shultz has retired and is probably no longer there so instead we try to send love in all directions. While sending out general love we also offer up prayers for the return of the Sonics. Of course some of us at NWT are old enough to remember shopping at the Sears store there.
Traffic is out on the water, connect four is ready to play, and your choice of wine is ready to go. Josh has joined our team and will be running Northwest Tastings Saturday through Tuesday, Go easy on him the first few days please!
We've been super busy the last few days with no time to post but the Seattle fire department has been putting on shows out on the bay. There's always something happening out there to watch so come by and get a glass of your favorite wine.
