In honor of Black History month, let’s shine a light on a connection of acupuncture and the Black Panthers!
The NADA protocol, an ear acupuncture intervention for trauma, substance abuse, and related mental health conditions has its roots with the Black Panthers and Young Lords. This protocol originated in the Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx in the 70s, born out of community empowerment as an alternative method of drug addiction treatment. This protocol is used by practitioners world wide and by organizations such as Acupuncturists without Borders.

A second year student and a doctoral student work together in SIEAM's amazing Chinese herb dispensary. All students participate in herbal preceptorships and internships at SIEAM.

A Manual of Classic Formulas for Primary Care is a practical distillation of the learning and clinical experience of Huang Huang, one of the pre-eminent proponents of the Classic Formula (jīng fāng) approach to herbal medicine in present-day China. These are based primarily on the formulas of Zhang Zhong-Jing.
