Today, we are pleased to announce the release of the Shreveport Guaranteed Income Program (SGIP) report. The SGIP, funded entirely by private donations (not of United Way) and the Parish of Caddo Commission, provided $660 a month to 110 single-parent families for 12 months. United Way of Northwest Louisiana helped with the implementation and onboarding process of this program through its Shreveport Financial Empowerment Center. According to the report, the SGIP showcases higher levels of financial stability, greater food security, improved housing stability, increased time and space for parenting, and an increased sense of personal agency for Shreveport residents.
