Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. On December 6, 1865 slavery was formally abolished with the adoption of the 13th Amendment. On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. Juneteenth marks a day of freedom for the African American community.

Today we continue our Charter Fact Friday series where we cover facts about charter schools and facts unique to our CSUSA schools.

- CSUSA operates 16 high schools across our network. We have increased from just 7 high schools in 2017 to where we are today.
- CSUSA has increased over-all high school graduation rates and the academic performance of each subgroup of students.
- The number of students earning AICE and IB diplomas has doubled.

Although summer has started, our scholars continue to strive for excellence. Mr. Pennywell and Kayden R., a member of the chess club, are competing in a chess tournament today. Let's cheer them on!

Today, we rolled out the red carpet for our 5th graders from the lower campus! They got the ultimate VIP experience, complete with a sneak peek into 6th grade, elective picking, and some serious fun!

Hello parents, this is Coach Anthony Johnson, head football coach at Magnolia. We are putting on our first annual Mariner football camp for grades 4-8. Our goal is to develop and maintain a good working relationship with our feeder program which consist of grades 4-8. That said, we are asking for your permission to allow your student to attend our camp.

The camp will consist of motivational speakers, drill sessions, and position stations that will allow the student to choose a position that they are interested in learning how to play. Coaches will be on hand to teach the fundamentals of each position. We are looking forward to an exciting time, and I hope you will allow your student to be part of a dynamic building process.
