I’m Shawna Henrickson and this is my fourth year on the Board, but first year as VP. I work full-time so my in-person volunteer availability is limited, but being on the Board allows me a sense of involvement in the decision making process. I hope to show working parents that there are other ways you can be involved even if you can’t physically be there.

I am a vegetarian, but my favorite place to eat is a steakhouse because I love the sides. I also live off coffee or Coke Zero. Along with my husband, Brian, I have 2 boys, Connor (9) and Parker (6) who keep me busy with various activities. I also have a Frenchie named Mila and 2 cats named Lucky and Panda. I’m a team mom for flag football, serve on another Executive Board at another Elementary school, and the Committee Chair for Cub Scouts. I don’t have alot of free time, but when I do, I enjoy coffee with friends, a spa day, Disneyland, or movies with the family.

Last night was Back to School night. A big thank you to everyone who attended our PTA Association meeting and Back to School night. We appreciate all the staff and teachers who welcomed parents into their classrooms and shared their spaces. It was heartwarming to see such a strong turnout from our community, showing just how much we all care about the education and well-being of our children. The evening was filled with positive energy and a collaborative spirit, as parents engaged in meaningful conversations with teachers and staff.
Special thanks to the PTA for organizing this successful event and ensuring everything ran smoothly. The dedication and hard work of our volunteers truly made a difference.
We look forward to more opportunities to connect and work together in the future, fostering a supportive and enriching environment for our students to thrive. Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead!

Back to School Night and the PTA Association Meeting are one August 29, 2024!

Please join us at 5:30 pm in the MPR for the initial Association Meeting of the year. This is a fantastic chance to meet the board members, discover upcoming events, and participate in voting for the year’s plans. We look forward to seeing you there!

Classroom visits are scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., with another session at 6:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for you to visit your child’s classroom, meet their teacher, and learn about what to expect throughout the school year.

Tracy is serving on the Executive Board for her third year and is our 2024-25 PTA President. Previously, she served as the Historian and Treasurer.

A native Bostonian who loves sports, photography, the beach, coincidentally the SSE school colors (teal and purple) and her Dunkin’ iced coffee, Tracy is passionate about working with the youth in our community and providing engaging, educational and fun opportunities for our students and families to create memories. Beyond the SSE PTA, she volunteers with several local youth sports leagues and has a soft spot for athletics.

She can’t pick just one favorite PTA event, but odds are it is one that is coming in the future! Go Mustangs 💚🐴💜

Popsicles, cookies, and bubbles - oh my! The Welcome Back Social was truly fantastic! A huge thank you to all the families and friends who joined us to support Santa Susana Elementary. Special appreciation to the PTA members for organizing such a fun-filled event.

The back to school social is for all grades on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 4pm-5:30pm. Class assignments will be available during the welcome back social.

Our TK/K orientation is on Wednesday August 14, 2024 at 2:00pm. Please arrive a few minutes early and the staff will help you get to the correct room.

Back To School Social - All Grades

We are excited to announce a Back to School Social scheduled for Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. The PTA will have information about membership as well as pre-sale on spirit wear (exact cash or checks payable to Santa Susana Elementary PTA). Families are invited to explore the campus and socialize with friends on the playground. Discover your child's teacher assignment during the Back to School Social or access it on the Aeries portal at 5:00 p.m. on August 14.

There will also be a sweet treat for everyone who attends, compliments of the PTA.
