Congrats to our 2023-2024 Scholarship and Endowment Recipients!

Each year, the Simi Valley Education Foundation grants deserving students’ scholarships so that they can attend college, technical or vocational schools. Students are chosen from each of the five local high schools -- Apollo High School, Monte Vista High School, Royal High School, Santa Susana School High and Simi High School, and one from Moorpark Community College.

This year we are happy to announce that once again the Walt Fuller Foundation donated $10,000 towards our scholarship program. We are grateful for this donation particularly since we rely on our fundraising events to fund these scholarships each year. Jenny Fuller, wife of the late Walt Fuller, is a SVEF Board Member.

In addition, the Simi Valley Educational Foundation awards three two-year community college scholarships ($1,000 per year) to students enrolling in a local community college each fall. This Endowment Program was established to honor the wishes of the original donor to provide community college scholarships for students who cannot afford to fund their own education. These 2-year scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a strong desire to succeed by obtaining a college education. These scholarships are intended to offer an opportunity or create a turning point in a young person’s life that inspires them to become an asset to our community.

The Simi Valley Education Foundation is committed to supporting the continuing education and success of our students. By providing financial support, the Foundation ensures that our students can pursue their goals and dreams.

Congrats to our May Teacher of the Month Charlene Valle!

The Simi Valley Education Foundation is proud to announce our May Teacher of the Month (TOTM) for the 2023-2024 school year – Charlene Valle, 3rd grade teacher at Atherwood Elementary School.

Charlene's passion is serving students, and she does shows this in many ways - by participating in her school’s Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Team, which works to create a safe and effective learning environment for students, and by taking students to the Ventura County of Office of Education and have them participate in Battle of the Books. Her team, the Reading Renegades, recently beat 19 other squads during the second round of the competition!

The Teacher of the Month program honors our local teachers in the Simi Valley Unified School District for his/her outstanding performance in teaching and contribution to the students at their school each month during the school year.

Many of our local businesses have agreed to participate and donate to this program and help us recognize our Teacher of the Month recipients, by providing $20+ gift items to our honoree. They include Chick-fil-A; Grand Canyon University, Harley’s Bowl Iverson Construction, Logix Federal Credit Union, Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, Simi Valley YMCA, Eric Little with State Farm Insurance, Supercuts, and Ventura County Credit Union. Each month our donors are invited to personally present their token of appreciation, along with local dignitaries who have created personalized certificates of appreciation.

Together, we send a clear message to these teachers that the business community supports and values their dedication to the children of Simi Valley.

The Simi Valley Education Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to quality education for all of Simi Valley’s public schools and since 1989 we have provided more than $2.5 million to our schools. We effect positive change by providing programs and funds for innovative classroom instruction, school-wide projects, department enhancements and scholarships for graduating high school seniors.

For more information about the Teacher of the Month program, please contact Cindy Jacoby at (877)SIMI-KID.
