Magen Am
Security & Training for Faith-Based Communities.
We were proud to present LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton with an award for the department's efforts and dedication to improving the safety of ALL Los Angeles communities. Through tough times it is even more important that we support and recognize the work of our partners!
The mission is clear: training and empowering members of our community.
Why? In order to deter and respond to security threats, so they may live and practice in peace.

“Our family is so thankful for Magen Am! Hopefully, you never have to go through an experience where you wished there could have been someone there to help you. The brave people of Magen Am arrive within minutes of being dispatched and handle themselves with dignity and respect. They work hand in hand with law enforcement, earning the respect of all agencies. They keep us informed of what is happening in our area, and you can't go far without seeing one of their patrol vehicles. God bless Magen Am!”

Today on Memorial Day we want to bring you the story of Jewish Medal of Honor recipient Captain Ben L Salomon:
Captain Ben L. Salomon was serving at Saipan, in the Marianas Islands on July 7, 1944, as the Surgeon for the 2d Battalion, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. The Regiment was attacked by an overwhelming force of enemy soldiers. It was one of the largest attacks attempted in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Although the unit fought furiously, the enemy soon penetrated the Battalions’ combined perimeter and inflicted overwhelming casualties. In the first minutes of the attack, approximately 30 wounded soldiers walked, crawled, or were carried into Captain Salomon’s aid station, and the small tent soon filled with wounded men. As the perimeter began to be overrun, it became increasingly difficult for Captain Salomon to work on the wounded. He then saw an enemy soldier attacking a soldier lying near the tent. Firing from a squatting position, Captain Salomon quickly killed the enemy soldier. Then, as he turned his attention back to the wounded, two more enemy soldiers appeared in the front entrance of the tent. As these enemy soldiers were killed, four more crawled under the tent walls. Captain Salomon courageously eliminated them as well. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Captain Salomon ordered the wounded to make their way as best they could back to the regimental aid station, while he attempted to hold off the enemy until they were clear. Captain Salomon then grabbed a rifle from one of the wounded and rushed out of the tent. After four men were killed while manning a machine gun, Captain Salomon took control of it. When his body was later found, 98 dead enemy soldiers were piled in front of his position. Captain Salomon’s extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

"Members of our community are starting to think and feel that this is getting to be very real. Every community needs a Magen Am chapter for it’s security and wellbeing.
We must all be part of the process, at this crucial moment in time, to ensure that Never Again actually means NEVER AGAIN!” - A member of the Nashville Jewish community who attended the class.

Today is Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day).
Today we honor and remember those who perished and those who miraculously survived.
Today we also honor and remember those who fought back. Those brave individuals who took it upon themselves to be guardians and protectors of the Jewish people.
We honor and remember them not by only saying the words NEVER AGAIN, but by each of us taking on the personal responsibility of NEVER AGAIN.
Am Yisroel Chai!
