Rotary Club of Simi Sunset
We meet Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm at:
Wood Ranch Country Club
301 N Wood Ranch Pkwy, Simi Valley, CA 93065
Come on down and see what Rotary is all about!
Tuesday's meeting this week, club President Rob Sherman celebrated Rotary Club of Simi Sunset's Wayne Snyder and his wife Marilyn's 35th wedding anniversary! Congrats to the both of you!
Our speaker that evening was Dr. Eldad "Dr. E" Einav. Dr E is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), a
Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM), Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and an Active member of the Obesity Medical Association.
Dr E spoke to us about the obesity epidemic, the increase in obesity through the decades, partially due to over processed foods, and their impact on humans. Then moved on to the revolution in weight loss with Semaglutide and Tirzepatide, also known as GLP-1 agonists. It was quite interesting to hear about these drugs and their impact on our health, even beyond their ability to help us lose weight.
You just never know who will be speaking at a Rotary After Dark meeting! If you'd like to find out more about our evening Rotary club please visit www.simisunsetrotry.org or just stop by any Tuesday night at 7pm at the Wood Ranch Golf Club. All are welcome!

It's "Service Club Month" for the County of Ventura! Today Rotary Club of Simi Sunset's very own Mike Kort was in attendance as well as the Morning Club's Rotarian Savi Bhim who spoke about giving back to the community.
We don't do it for the recognition but it is nice to be recognized for what we do.

Tuesday was an exciting day as a new member was proposed for our club. Jaimee Roark was proposed by Jill Haney and the board approved in a special session held after our meeting.
Our guest tonight presented a story of courage, endurance, and love. Cheryl Tsieprati told our club the story of her and her late husband Ismail's 30+ year battle with ALS(Lou Gehrig's disease) and how perseverance and an unwillingness to let a terrible disease keep you down lead them to many adventures throughout the world. Cheryl and Ismail co-authored a book about their life together and their battle with ALS. Their book, One Blink at a Time, can be found on Amazon if you'd like to pick up a copy.

Well, It's been a busy couple of weeks for our RADsters at aka Club of Simi Sunset . At our August 20th meeting we recognized Desiree Hintz on her 1 year anniversary with the club. Desiree has jumped in with both feet in her first year and has left her mark on several events.
In very exciting news we also welcomed new member Kat Ehret as the newest member of our club. Kat is a great addition to our Rotary family and has already been helping out with our Simi's Endless Summer Beer Fest event.
Finally, Seth presented his Eagle Scout project to our club. Seth was just shy of his fundraising goals and the club all chipped in to meet that goal. Seth can now begin his Eagle Scout project to update the facilities at Little Becomer's Preschool.

Rotary is about helping others. Rotary Club of Simi Sunset and Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise joined forces to help a neighbor in need. They needed a yard clear out and were unable to do it themselves. Rotarians are always willing to help neighbors in need so we pitched in and got it done.
Special thanks to WM for donating the dumpster!

Rotary is an international organization. We even have clubs in Budapest, Hungary!
Welcome to a new year of Rotary! That's right, we kicked off our new year with a new President, Kelley Gilliland....no wait, that was us pranking our very real new President Rob Sherman! In our first meeting of the year we showed our love for our President with casual dress and casual competition. Even last year's President couldn't keep away and joined via Zoom while on a beach vacation!
Each year Rotary Int'l has a theme and this years theme is The Magic of Rotary, and in that tradition our new president brought a real magician to Tuesday's meeting. With Simi Sunset Rotary you never know what's going to happen, but it is always fun!
Interested in giving back to your local community or learning more about being a Rotarian? Come to our meetings and say "Hello!" We'd love to have you. We meet every Tuesday at 7PM at the Wood Ranch Country Club in the back banquet room. We hope to see you there!

Tierra Rejada clean up day. Always a pleasure to work with the other Rotary clubs in Group 5!
Huge shout out and THANK YOU to Dance Creations - Simi Valley for their recent donation. They ran a small fundraiser around the holidays and decided to donate to our club. The funds we raise help to support MANY local non-profit organizations. Every little bit really makes a difference. If you haven't checked out Dance Creations, they run a fantastic dance studio right here in Simi Valley. Many of their students attend competitions and their teachers/choreography is award winning! Thanks again!
