Last week we welcomed five 3rd-year medical students from USD to our Sioux Falls clinic for a cultural immersion experience. Over three days, the students learned about traditional medicines, engaged in a roundtable discussion with our providers, joined our walking group, participated in beading and sewing, explored our MAT program, and did street outreach with the Wo'okiye team.
The students were incredibly engaged and eager to learn. We were glad to have them with us. We hope this experience will enrich their future medical careers with a deeper appreciation for cultural humility and the diverse needs of the communities they serve!
