Levitt Sioux Falls
Levitt at the Falls is an outdoor music venue w/ 50 free concerts. Building community through music.
The Levitt joined in the fun with Project Warm-Up on Friday to help make 30 fleece blankets for those in need. That's a lot of warm hugs in the form of blankets! The Levitt Service Squad will be doing monthly projects around the community leading up to the summer season. If you'd like to get involved, visit levittsiouxfalls.org/volunteer for more information.
The Levitt might be a place for music, but it’s also a place of love, joy, and community. Here at the Levitt, we’re grateful for the incredibly joyful community that we’ve seen develop on the lawn over the past few years.
Take Karyl and Ryan, for example. This mother-and-son duo was at almost every one of our 50 free concerts in the summer. Ryan uses a wheelchair, and he’s able to attend our concerts with the rest of his friends and neighbors thanks to the accessibility of the Levitt.
“We find the Levitt to be very welcoming,” Karyl said. “We just like being there. It’s a good way to get to know other people, too.”
Karyl and Ryan move around the lawn every night, finding different spaces to sit and meet new people at the Levitt.
“It’s awesome in so many capacities because when I go there I feel so much like anyone else,” Ryan said. “I don’t feel excluded. I honestly don’t see how at some of the shows you couldn’t have a good time and let yourself go for an evening and let all the worries and stress of life go and just enjoy.”
Our community helped make music a reality for over 100,000 people in 2023. We want to continue creating this sense of joy for our community, and we hope you’ll consider joining our Friends of Levitt membership program and help us further our connections within the community. For a full list of Friend benefits, please visit levittsiouxfalls.org/donate today. Thank you for helping us to build community through music.
Did you know the Levitt at the Falls staff walked over 360,000 steps as a group during the 2023 season? That's over 1,600 miles! With that many miles, the staff relies on some really nice shoes to get through a summer. Our tennies are just one example of some of the expenses the Levitt incurs to put on 50 concerts for our community every year. This year, Scheels is offering a way to help out some local nonprofits by donating $50K to a few nominated organizations. If you're looking for an easy way to help us cover some costs, consider nominating Levitt at the Falls here: https://bit.ly/3QZj7Lf . We promise, while our shoes are important, the work this money will do to help us build community through music is far more impressive!
At almost every Levitt concert, Diane Olson is up front in a big sun hat and the iconic blue Levitt vest. She’s busy smiling, laughing, engaging the crowd and always dancing across the lawn. Meet Diane:

The Levitt Volunteer Service Squad got a job as a painting crew! On Friday, we helped paint a house with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls. We got the chance to work alongside the owner, who will get to move in this January. We promise we got some of the paint on the walls and not just our clothes! If you'd like to join us, the Levitt will be volunteering around Sioux Falls once a month until the summer starts. You can request more information at levittsiouxfalls.org/volunteer
Join us in wishing the happiest of birthdays to our executive director, Nancy Halverson. Thank you for everything you do for the Levitt and the Sioux Falls Community!
The Levitt volunteers took on the Greater Goods nonprofit supply store run by Volunteers of America, Dakotas on Thursday. We helped inventory, price, and organize some of the seasonal goods! Next week, some of our volunteers will take on painting for Habitat for Humanity. For more information on how to get involved in the off-season, visit levittsiouxfalls.org/volunteer
Flashback to the season! YAM HAUS, a Minneapolis band, kicked off our first ever indie vibe genre concert with an eclectic and vibrant sound.
Food truck flashback! Temps topped out at 93 degrees on our June 29 concert with Rowan Grace, but our food trucks were prepared. They served ice cream, tacos, burgers, and treats to keep our audience comfortable.
2023 Flashback! Our last weekend of the season started with open mic night and a little rain, but Patty PerShayla & The Mayhaps rocked the house with her larger-than-life sound.
We had so much fun hosting a group of our Levitt volunteers last night at our annual Levitt Volunteer Appreciation event. Big thanks to the over 199 community members who dedicate their time to make the Levitt a welcoming and safe space every summer. Our volunteers truly make the difference in helping us to live our mission to build community through music.
Here's a fun flashback to opening night of the 2023 season. Our 18 volunteers served 2,983 patrons on opening night. That's 72 hours of service on our first night alone.
It is a beautiful day to host the Sioux Falls Native American Day Parade and Wacipi to celebrate and gather.
Some of the Levitt Sioux Falls staff got the opportunity to visit our sister Levitt in Arlington, Texas this weekend. It was great to see the impact of the Levitt program across the nation, and we got to see a concert in action and talk shop with our fellow Levitt venue colleagues. Thanks to Levitt Foundation and Levitt Pavilion Arlington for hosting us!
Flashback to the summer! The 2023 Levitt National Tour Band presented elements of cumbia, rock, bolero, bossa nova, jazz, tango, and ranchera with an electrifying and unmistakable signature style. Although we had to end early for lightning, La Santa Cecilia still had people up and dancing.
Artist and musician Hector Curriel of HC-Artworks included Levitt Sioux Falls in his Superheroes of SD works for SiouxperCon. So fun!
Only two days left to start the SiouxperCon! I’m very excited to be back and meeting with great entertainment artists from all over of state, and with a big crowd of enthusiastic people. Here is my latest drawing of my series: Superheroes in South Dakota. I’ll be there with many prints like this, books and drawing caricatures as well. See you soon and don’t forget to dress up your costume! 😀.
Congratulations to our dedicated Executive Director Nancy Halverson on her nomination for the EmBe Tribute to Women Award in the Humanities & Education category. Nancy's mission-driven vision, positive attitude, hard work, and empowerment make Levitt Sioux Falls what it is today. Congrats, and thanks for all you do, Nancy!

Sioux Falls showed up for our final evening of 2023. Thanks to Young Dubliners for sending us out in style!
It’s a day of double celebration! Our Levitt Sioux Falls staff and DMM Systems staff are cheering for our last concert of the 2023 season and our Marketing Manager Olivia’s birthday. Three cheers for a great year!
Although the Young Dubliners’ sound is most commonly called Celtic rock, that label can often be misleading. The Irish influence is certainly there, but it’s not the only component that bursts through on their albums or live shows. After all, several of the band members have no Irish roots of any kind. Their sound was intended to be a hybrid to represent the different backgrounds of each member. After thirty years performing, the Young Dubliners have begun work on their tenth studio album. Featured food trucks include Backyard BBQ, Brosia Bowl, Krazy Concessions, and Nautical Bowls with beverages from JJ's Wine, Spirits & Ci**rs. Thank you to our concert and season-wide sponsor, Sanford Health, and our Rock & Roll Genre Sponsor First Bank & Trust.
That’s a wrap on our country genre with Little Joe McCarthy and Big Trouble!
It’s shaping up to be a gorgeous weather night on the Levitt lawn for our final Friday. Now all we need is you! Join us for happy hour with JJ's Wine, Spirits & Ci**rs starting at 5:30pm, pre-show line dancing lesson at 6:30pm with Dakota Country Dance Club and music starts at 7:00pm with James Eugene Russell and then headliner Little Joe Mccarthy and Big Trouble.
After a decade of playing the Midwest as a singer-songwriter, including the past 2 years as a solo opening act at the Levitt, Little Joe Mccarthy returns this year with a full band to headline on as a part of the Levitt’s country series. Joe will be fronting his Big Trouble band, some of the finest musicians that the Midwest has to offer. Enjoy some blues & country with Little Joe McCarthy & Big Trouble. Featured food trucks include Backyard BBQ, Lunchboxsufu, Rudy M. Navarrete’s Tex-Mexican Catering, and Nautical Bowls with beverages from JJ's Wine, Spirits & Ci**rs. Thank you to our concert sponsor Pivot Rock Venture Capital, our Country genre sponsor Central Bank, and our season-wide sponsor Sanford Health.
