Today, St. Tammany Chapter Regent Debra Bridgeman presented the DAR
DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN MEDAL to A SOLDIER’s JOURNEY HOME.
Here is her speech:

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,

As we gather today to celebrate the values of honor, service, and patriotism, we have the privilege of recognizing an organization that embodies these ideals at its very essence. St. Tammany Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution proudly present the DAR Distinguished Citizen Medal to A Soldier’s Journey Home.

For a decade, A Soldier’s Journey Home has been a shining example of dedication to our nations heroes through their tireless efforts. They have provided unwavering support to our veterans, ensuring that those who have served our country receive the respect care and assistance they deserve.

Today, as we commemorate the 10th Anniversary of A Soldier’s Journey Home, we celebrate not only their accomplishments, but also the spirit of community and service that defines their work

On behalf of the Saint Tammany Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, we extend our sincerest congratulations to A Soldier’s Journey Home, may their tireless efforts continue to inspire us all and support those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

St. Tammany Chapter was honored to be a part of a Key Ceremony for Ret. Army Sgt. Ryan Major. A Soldier’s Journey Home ( ASJH), an organization that builds homes for severely wounded combat veterans, presented Sgt. Major with keys to his new, mortgage free home. When the chapter learned of this build in our community, we reached out to the crew of ASJH and offered to stock his pantry. In addition, Vicki Kirby, State Chair and Chapter Chair Flag of the United States of America, presented the sergeant with a U.S. Flag that was flown over DAR Memorial Hall in Washington, D.C. Chapter Regent Debra Bridgeman presented the certificate to Sgt. Major.
Susan Crittendon, local quilter, presented her hand made quilt at the ceremony. So many businessses and people came together to make this a memorable day for the veteran. Check out next post about A Soldier’s Journey Home.
