On June 4th, 2024, a hard morning wondering if we were making the right decision. Knowing deep down we could no longer give her the care she needed but we never wanted to let go. She was ready, but we weren't! I've always heard of the Hospice House, and even volunteered, but never experienced it there. As we pulled up full of emotions the feeling of PEACE took over as we walked in the door. I was taken away by the beauty, calmness, and tranquility the house holds. Could we ever put into words the gratitude we have for all of you-NEVER! You made us feel like family and that's something we could never forget. Together we were able to laugh, cry, share memories, and create new ones. Miranda, Cheryl, Jennifer, Niki, and Tori.....we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We literally could not have done this without all of your help! Together we were able to witness heaven through her eyes. I smile thinking bout the angels that were watching over her--cause you were her angels here on earth. Losing someone that is so close to you is one of the hardest things but being surrounded by a team like you all makes it a little bit easier. Love always!

What is the Hospice House?

The Hospice House is a home designed to give terminally ill patients, who are in a preferred hospice program with the Hospice Foundation, a place to stay during their final days at no cost. The home is owned and operated by the Hospice Foundation of the South, a not for profit 501(c)(3). Caregivers are in the home with the residents 24 hours a day. To date, we have taken care of over 440 families during the patient's final days. The preferred hospice programs recommend people who, because of circumstances in their lives, need a place to complete their journey. Family members are encouraged to visit with their loved ones.

The home has 3 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and screened-in porch area. There is also a central living room, kitchen and dining room for residents and family members to have a place to congregate, dine, or spend a special occasion together.

This is the only home of its kind in the community. We are honored to be able to offer these services free of charge. The Hospice House runs solely on donations and fundraising efforts by the Hospice Foundation. Please support your local charities!

We are so grateful for our visits from Constellation of Care's Orion and Ms. Barbara. They make our world brighter and our porches brighter too!

Hospice House is not a long-term home. We are here for a person's last days to give their caretakers a much-needed break and allow them to spend quality time together.

The end-of-life process is not easy for the ones left behind. Having a peaceful experience is what we strive for.

If we had a dollar for every time we've heard the statement "we need another house in St. Tammany Parish" we could, well, build it!

The time has come for us to move forward with a second Hospice House in St. Tammany Parish! One of the ways you can help us build that house and honor your loved one is Room Naming Rights for either the current home or our future Hospice House West.

Hospice helps make daily decisions easier and walks them through the dying process with peace and understanding.

We don't have specific meal times. We are totally on the individual schedules of our patients.

We have new supporters since the success of the 19th Annual Crawfish Cookoff. So here's just a few things about our organization that you may not know. Feel free to share and spread the information!

1️⃣ To date, our Hospice House has provided a comfortable and serene end of life environment to more than435 hospice patients at no cost to the patient, family or their insurance company.

2️⃣ Placement in the Hospice House is based on availability and need. The decision is not financially based.

3️⃣ The Hospice House is Non Government Funded. We also do not take insurance funding.

4️⃣ The Hospice House is operated solely from donations, fundraisers and grants.

5️⃣ With plans to open a second Hospice House in St. Tammany Parish, an additional $250,000+ is needed annually!
