"Georgia leads the nation with the highest number of AAPI lawmakers in its state legislature. Last year witnessed a groundbreaking moment as Georgia formed its first-ever Non-partisan AAPI Legislative Caucus. Meet State Representative Michelle Au, an inspiring member of this historic caucus.
As a second-generation Chinese-American, Rep. Au's journey is truly remarkable. Prior to being elected to the Georgia State House, Representative Au served as a member of the Georgia State Senate from 2021 through 2023, where she was proud to be the first Asian woman elected to that body. As a practicing physician, Au is an avid champion for to***co control issues and sponsored legislation over the last several years to raise the state to***co tax (which is the second lowest in the country).
