Northeastern University Running Club always brings the Running Club heat to Hyannis and sometimes we need the heat in March:>)

We have Running Club scoring for the Hyannis Half Marathon and we have a Marathon Team Relay...the Marathon Team Relay is a fun relay that all clubs and teams can participate in.

Cry Babies in France this week over the River Seine water quality for the Olympic Triathlon.

Circa 2013-2015....the "Thick As A Brick Triathlon" took place in Cambridge, Massachusetts @ the American Legion Marsh Post.....13 hearty souls☘️

I didn't have 1.5 billion to ensure the safety of the Charles River water quality like they did in France for the Olympics so I swam every night in the Charles for three months prior to event and my figuring was that if I made it to the starting line then the water was safe and I did....I came out of the water 5th and then the run and bike did me in and I came in last...a hard fought last but last nonetheless🎱

Those were good times down at the Marsh Post....I still have Cathy Grant of the MDC aka DCR ringing in my ear from the following day phone call "Paulie, you can't be doing stuff like that without letting me know"

Has anyone seen or heard from Bob Hall?

I used to pop into Bob's wheelchair racer manufacturing company in Somerville all of the time to talk shop.....Bob still holds the course record for wheelers @ Khoury's Summer Steamer in Somerville and it will remain intact since the race is defunct.

Bob would bring in five or six wheelers each year to race at Khoury's.....back in the 80's and 90's there was a strong group of men and women wheelers in New England...there was nothing more exciting than to watch this crew race up Winter Hill.....the Khoury's Summer Steamer had that kind of respect and prize money😎

Bob Hall was the very first wheeler at the Boston Marathon....he was the pioneer of wheelchair road racing.

I have some ole pics of the wheelers going up Winter Hill that I am gonna have to dig up....in the attic of my farmhouse.

Funny Story Time:

One time I went to visit Bob.... and I had to use the men's room...so I went into the John and there on the toilet bowl were two wheeler trophies from past Khoury's...I was a wee bit disappointed cause he had other awards all over the shop but mine were in the John so I said something to him and his response to me was "relax Paulie, no one ever looks at all those other awards scattered about the shop but everyone see's yours when they go to the John"

Bob and his wife Jane were a huge part of the fabric of New England road racing....and I am delighted to have been associated with both....please say hello to Bob if you run across him somewhere.

Big Bronze Medal win for American, Grant Fisher in the 10,000 meters @ Paris Olympics...first time in 50 plus years that an American man has medaled in the Olympic 10,000 meters.

I have been very fortunate to have worked with Olympiads from Ethiopia, Ireland, Canada and USA at my events in Massachusetts including Molly Huddle who had held the USA women's 5000 and 10,000 meter records.

This is great news for American long distance running.

Just last week I was having a beer in Pine Hill, NY and a local was telling me about an ole Marathon that took place in Margaretville, NY....he didn't know much else about it and I didnt give it much thought afterwards (been busy)...anyway Ken Stratton today mentioned it in a below thread on my up coming Catskill Dry Brook Ridge Marathon, Marathon Team Relay & Fiver in October 2024, so I decided to dig a little deeper online and I found a few pieces on the Pepacton Paleface Marathon- Margaretville, NY (Ken had stated this)....was held in October and it was hosted by the Delaware County Runners based out of Delhi, New York.....there are some local media pieces and some references of it in some running media...one of the running media pieces is from the Central Vermont Runners News Letter Race Calender...the CVR also has a piece on the Maple Leaf Half Marathon...my first half back in the 80's:)

Both seem to be defunct today as I have only been able to find some 1980's era stuff on line.

Is there anyone out there who may have more history on the Pepacton Paleface Marathon and the Delaware County Runners not to be confused with the Delaware County Road Runners in Pennsylvania.

We have had some top talent race and win at Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km in Somerville, Massachusetts....in 2014, South African Alistair Cragg who raced for Ireland won the Ras U.S.A. in a time of 14:38.

Tucked in behind Tommy Lynch is Lowell Ladd who came in 2nd....Colin Peddie came in 1st

Tucked in behind Lowell Ladd is Terry McNatt who had won a prior Khoury's Summer Steamer and a race that was probably the most exciting race finish in Somerville history against Dermot Fitzpatrick.

Colin has the course record and does to this day...the race has been defunct for a few years now.

The Margaretville Central School Track & Field Team will be involved with the Catskill Dry Brook Ridge Marathon, Marathon Team Relay & Fiver in 2024 ....the team is new in 2023-2024 and the kids used old basketball shirts for its competitions....the 2024-2025 season will be different as the kids will have some nuevo fancy coolmax racing singlets and coolmax cool down shirts for the teams involvement on race weekend.

Rocky the Siberian Husky getting a bath this morning @ Jacknife Cove in Chatham aka Cape Cod.

Many ask "Paulie, how does a cat from Somerville now in the Catskills running a bowling alley become involved in Hyannis with events"......it's an easy explanation....my mother and father got divorced in 1979...mother moved to Cape Cod with half the brood and the other half of the brood stayed in Greater Boston....I would visit my mother often, free place to stay on the Cape...got involved with the Cape Cod Athletic Club and ran lots of races on Cape Cod...became friends with peeps on the Cape and when Hyannis Marathon had run its course with prior race director it was passed on to me in 2000.....today, my family has two generations now native Cape Codders living in Brewster, Eastham and West Yarmouth along with my brothers, sisters, parents, aunt and uncle on Cape Cod.

The Cape reputation is mostly as a summer time destination but in my opinion it is even better in the Fall and yes Winter when there is less traffic, less lines and there is the Hyannis Marathon, Half Marathon, 10Km & Marathon Team Relay on March 2, 2025😎 at the Cape Cod Irish Village☘️

Cape & Islands All Cape Middle School Track Meet @ Dennis-Yarmouth High School today.

Barnstable & Dennis-Yarmouth Track & Field Programs are both involved with the Hyannis Marathon, Half Marathon, 10Km & Marathon Team Relay and have been for years and will be again in 2025...."running supporting running"

21 years ago....some lads flew over from Co. Kildare, Ireland to run the very first Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km in Somerville, Mass with Friend & Uncle, Noel Robinson who was living in Southie...the lads won our very first Irish Pub Sporting Paddy Gaelic Cup Award and they took the fastest Irish Pub Team title home to Nash's Pub in Ireland....over the years we moved away from this part of the race but not in 2025....time to get back to all of our Irish Pub roots☘️

The 2011 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km will be dedicated to Noel Robinson of Naas, County Kildare, Ireland who unexpectedly and sadly passed away while running last week. There will be a moment of silence for Noel on Sunday morning before the start of the race,

Noel ran the prior 8 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km and he always took great joy in fielding a pub team for the "Sporting Paddy" Gaelic Cup award that went to the fastest pub team.

In the picture attached is his 2003 winning team "Nash's Pub" that included his nephew Joe Robinson who flew over from Ireland to race on his uncles team. Another pub team that Noel put together won again in 2007 - this time it was for The Clock Pub also in Southie.

The "Sporting Paddy" Gaelic Cup Award is to be renamed the "Noel Robinson" Gaelic Cup Award in 2011.
