• Denying violence when violence and threats of violence are actually occurring

• Belief they have some control over abuse
• Self-blame for situation and abuse
Trauma results from a single occurrence. Complex trauma is the exposure to multiple and varied traumatic events. Many trafficking survivors experience complex trauma that impacts their physical and mental health and development.

Helping Captives was founded in 2015 as a ministry partnering with churches and organizations to perform outreach to the community. Today Helping Captives ministers to survivors of trafficking through intervention, stabilization, and recovery services.
Trauma Informed Care seeks to realize the impact of trauma and understand the path to recovery utilizing safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment. 🌸
We integrate this perspective into our policies and procedures, staff training, and our day-to-day interactions with survivors.
Help create a place of healing for survivors of trafficking.
