Fall Quarter is here! SFCC Choirs are meeting at their regular times with masking and marked distancing protocols in effect. We will provide masks and face shields as well as instructions on how to learn parts and complete video file submissions for mosaic “virtual” choir performances for this quarter. While it’s not what we’d hoped for or would prefer, it is still in-person at the regular times and the regular place.

MUSC 139 (year one) and 239 (year two) — CHORUS MEN at 1-2pm on MWF

MUSC 140 (year one) and 240 (year two) — CHORUS WOMEN at 2-3pm on MW and 1-2pm on F

COMMUNITY CHORALE is 1-2pm F, with the entirety of WOMEN & MEN together with community continuing education enrollees.

MUSC 127 (year one, permission code required after audition) and 227 (no code if you have completed three quarters of 127) — CHAMBER SINGERS at 1:30-3:30pm T/TH & 2-3pm on F

MUSC 128 (year one, permission code required after audition) and 227 (no code required if you have completed three quarters of 128) — VOCAL JAZZ at 12-1:30pm T/TH

Also, MUSC 106 — History of American Popular Music is offered online this quarter and fulfills the Humanities Group B requirement for you AA degree. It’s asynchronous, so you can go at your own pace, though weekly Zoom meetings will be offered for discussion or questions at the course’s usual time, 9:30-10:30am.

It looks like the plan for fall will include on-campus ensembles! Spread the word!

Spring was rough without being able to make music in real time, but I hope you will sign up for any of our ensembles — choir, band, orchestra, jazz band/combos — and reconnect with the sonic soul salve that is group performance.

Our lecture, private lessons, and other music courses are also running if you are looking for a degree option. Let me know if you have any questions.
