Mark Ramos, SCC Workforce Transition Specialist, danced at the Indigenous Day event on August 7-9 in Paramaribo Suriname, South America!
He was able to dance for the President and Vice President of Suriname.
Mark was the first Native American dancer to participate in the event. 👏
Mark shared how "it was an amazing cultural experience learning about South American Rainforest Tribes."
He was excited to represent CCS and wore his Bigfoot beaded fan during his dance.

ACT 2 student, Judy Marcus, has attended a variety of classes including dancing, mosaics and even golfing over the span of 31 years!
She first heard about the ACT 2 Program, Spokane Community College from her sister-in-law when they were in search of activities to do during their retirement.
Judy shared that the skills she has learned in ACT 2 translated into her daily life, including leading a class in the swimming pool during vacation!

The ACT 2 history class inspired a horse pack trip to the continental divide to retrace the historic crossing by David Thompson in 1807!
This crossing of Howse Pass in the Canadian Rockies into the Columbia River drainage, ultimately led to the establishment of Spokane House.

SCC has announced its selection as one of 18 nationwide recipients this year to join the prestigious Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI).
This year SCC received $5,000 which will go toward basic student needs.

Spokane Community College's ACT 2 Program offers a variety of courses including art, fitness and communication classes, to name a few.
One current class, "How to Get Your Affairs in Order," is taught by "The Rev. Jan Kraft, an author and end-of-life educator."

'You can't do it while you're dead': Reverend, author helps people craft end-of-life plans before it's too late Death is an inevitable fact of life, yet many people either don’t prepare at all or don’t do enough to prepare so that their loved ones can easily settle their affairs.
High school students had the chance to polish up old skills and learn new ones in our ITS center this week at the GenCyber Camp!
