Spokane Community College student, Sherman Birdtail, is a part of our amazing Cosmetology Program. He was one of the recipients of the WAVE scholarship which supports trades students!

Once he earns his degree, "he will be applying for a management position at the spa where he works on the Spokane Reservation."

$1.6 million in scholarships awarded to trades students in Washington 121 students were awarded up to $13,536 each in scholarships by Washington's Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board in June, totaling at over $1.6 million in awards granted to Washington students.

After completing High School+ in March, Michelle Rutter immediately enrolled in SCC’s general AA-DTA degree program.

“There was more to this than just getting a GED. I wanted more for myself and now I can get that,” Rutter said.

SCC LASO attended the MECHA National Conference at the University of Oregon.

Several members were able to enjoy many workshops and learn from different mentors.

They also were able to see Huecha Omeyocan and Familia Lara Stephens perform with traditional Latin music and dance.

On the way home, SCC LASO was able to stop by the beach and enjoy the outdoors.

Students gave speeches related to culture and history, walked the stage for a cultural fashion show and even performed different dances. ❤️💚
