TL:DR; Gender-affirming care saves lives. 🩷🩡🀍

When one form of gender-affirming care is under attack, all forms of gender-affirming care are at risk. Odyssey supports the rights of transgender & gender-diverse youth to pursue the gender-affirming care that they need, and we will continue to offer referrals to these life-saving resources.

Image Description: Three images created with the colors of the transgender pride flag. The first image says "When one form of gender-affirming care is under attack, all forms of gender-affirming care are at risk. Odyssey supports the rights of transgender & gender-diverse youth to pursue the gender-affirming care that they need, and we will continue to offer referrals to these life-saving resources. Gender-affirming care saves lives". The second image says "In response to the recent announcement that the Supreme Court will be hearing cases related to state gender-affirming care bans, as well as the debate regarding WPATH gender-affirming care age eligibility guidelines, the Biden administration has taken a stance against gender-affirming surgery for minors. We want to remind folks of the facts. Gender-affirming surgeries for minors are incredibly rare, with less than 1200 taking place in the highest volume year during a five-year research study conducted at Columbia University (Wright et al, AP News). We also know that protecting the rights of trans & gender diverse youth to access gender-affirming care overall is life-saving, associated with positive mental health outcomes and reduced rates of suicidal ideation for transgender & non-binary youth (The Trevor Project). Odyssey will continue to advocate alongside LGBTQ+ youth and offer resources & support to them as we always do." The final slide says "remember: you are seen, respected, and loved for who you are. You deserve equitable access to the resources that will help you thrive". All three slides include a reminder that folks can find resources, including gender-affirming care resources, on Odyssey's website at odysseyyouth.org/resources (odyssey youth dot o r g slash resources) or by emailing Odyssey at [email protected] (o y m at sign odyssey youth dot o r g).
