Hi! I'm Brad, music is my passion. This page is for my online music teaching work.
By the way, I'll be back playing chill solo keyboard dinner music at Hendel's Market Cafe in Florissant in north county hometown St. Louis (weather permitting, out on patio but weather looks nice) this Saturday October 12th, 5:30 - 8:30pm.
Pass this along to anyone you think may be interested!
Thanks to those who came to the Wednesday night out full band show on Wed. Sept. 25th, it went well and was really fun! I must be bringing SoCal vibes with this amazing weather!
Full band gig coming at ya hometown St. Louis!
Wednesday September 25th, 6-9pm central standard time at Hendel's Market Cafe in Florissant north county hometown St. Louis for the Wednesday night out event.
Really looking forward to this one, as since the pandemic it's mostly been duo or solo gigs. Jazz, blues, pop/rock. Mostly covers but might throw in an original or two in there.
We'll be set up on a stage outside weather permitting. If it's raining, we'll be inside Hendel's.
Chuck Flowers on vocals
myself on keyboard
Marc Torlina on bass
Jared McFarland on drums

Brad's knowledge of music theory, piano techniques, and ability to adjust a teaching style allowed me to get past several decades-long hurdles in discovering the piano. Give him a chance to show you what he's capable of. - Randy
It was great to hear one of my former piano teachers, Carolbeth True from college at Webster University, performing with her band Two Times True Saturday night June 29 here in hometown St. Louis! Her son, David, is on drums and is a wonderful drummer.
Carolbeth is a wonderful person and friend. She's an excellent piano performer, from having played piano concertos with symphonies to being a top call jazz performer, she can do it all at a very high level!
Carolbeth was also helpful when I started regularly teaching piano lessons nearly 20 years ago! I'm honored and grateful to have gotten to study both jazz and some classical piano with Carolbeth. She's a St. Louis legend
I'll be playing a quiet, relaxing solo instrumental keyboard gig at Hendel's Market Cafe on Friday June 28th, 5:30 - 8:30pm. It's out on the patio, so hopefully that night will be rain free. Contact Hendel's at 314-837-2304 if raining, as gig might be postponed if raining, but hopefully not! There's always a solution!
Hendel's is located in north county St. Louis in Old town Florissant at 599 St. Denis Street. I've been playing there since late 2010, so it will be good to get back there as I haven't played there in awhile with being out west for much of last year.
Hope to see ya there!

It's fun to revisit these easier level classical pieces. This is Minuet in G by Bach, an absolute classic!
Learning piano helps with all other musical activities! I learned how to play the flute a number of years ago, and it's really fun! There are always ways to learn and grow in music, you never stop learning!

I love revisiting and playing this piece by Johann Sebastian Bach! This is just a brief segment of Minuet in G, BWV Anh. 116: Animato
Far more important than any teaching method or approach is ensuring a positive rapport and connection with the student.

The Yamaha Piaggero NP-12 keyboard works great, and is very portable! I highly recommend this keyboard. It's easy to carry around, has a decent piano sound, and is very affordable.
In 2019, I took a non-traditional approach for my students' recital! Instead of playing at a traditional church sanctuary or similar formal setting, they performed at a student open mic at a local coffeehouse! It ended up being a really fun event!
Want to grow as a singer-songwriter? Getting out to open mics to play your songs and hang out with fellow musicians helps! Go for it! πβοΈπ€π΅πΈπΉ
Remember, stay consistent towards your musical goals and dreams. Each consistent little step forward gets you to the bigger victories. Keep shining, keep dreaming, and keep believing!
Tips for effective practicing:
Keep the joy present
Have fun

How often to have piano lessons? It really depends. A child beginner student needs weekly consistent lessons, usually 30 minutes each week for an extended period of time. But an adult intermediate or advanced student might take lessons once or twice a month for a period of time. It really depends on the goals and aspirations of the individual.
Remember, the key to learning piano and guitar is :
Chords and scales.
I like to call chords and scales the nouns and verbs of the musical language. The more you can learn about chords and scales, the more it will help in learning piano and/or guitar!
Wanting to accompany yourself on keys while singing a song, but wanting to take your chord knowledge to the next level?
Contact me about lessons, I can help you realize your potential!

New teaching philosophy that I've developed!
If you play piano at an intermediate level but want to take it to the next level, I can help! Message me about online lessons! Some in person availability could be possible too. If you are a fellow musician, I offer lower rates for fellow musicians.
Maybe you're a guitar player who wants a few lessons to increase your keyboard knowledge. I can help!
Maybe you've had lessons in the past, but want to revisit piano again from a new perspective. I can help!
This reference is from a past student. He played at an intermediate level and I helped him increase his knowledge of chords, scales, and improvisation!
