ECM provides ecumenical chaplaincy and life-changing programs to kids in the juvenile justice system.

Ministry of Presence
Probably the most important aspect of the chaplains' time with the children is what we call โ€œthe ministry of presenceโ€. Our chaplains walk the halls; visit the units; play cards, board games, or video games; or watch TV with the youth. The non-anxious presence of our chaplains reassures the teens that their spiritual well-being is being looked after.

Congratulations to ECM board member and volunteer Dr. Pam Stanfield on her recent award for distinguished service in the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center. Pam received the Donald F. Roth Outstanding Service Award in recognition of her years of dedication and service to the children in the detention center.

For 9 years, Pam has volunteered in the detention center, where she visits the children every Sunday and on holidays. Pam serves the children by listening to them talk about their struggles and offering stories to inspire and motivate them. Pam regularly attends special programs and events for the youth and has served on Family Court committees focused on serving youth who are involved with the juvenile justice system.

After 6 years of working with the amazing staff and volunteers at Episcopal City Mission, and 32 years as an administrative Lay Professional in the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, Iโ€™m officially โ€œretired!โ€ Itโ€™s bittersweet. I have a long list of things Iโ€™m excited to do (new and old) AND Iโ€™m going to miss supporting and empowering ministry and the wonderful people Iโ€™ve been so privileged to work with. Itโ€™s been a lifelong journey, for which I am so very grateful. Iโ€™m looking forward to what crazy adventures God has in store for me next!
