GPC provides a network of communication through which student leaders share info about school activities, & supports representative student government.
The Graduate Professional Council (GPC) is the university-wide graduate student organization that represents more than 6,000 graduate and professional students from all seven graduate and professional schools at Washington University in St. Louis: Design & Visual Art, Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, Law, Medicine, and Social Work. GPC brings together students from across Washington University to create community around social, professional development and community service events.

The Graduate Research Symposium (GRS) is a poster symposium run for and by WUSTL graduate students as a way to provide all graduate and professional students an on-campus opportunity to share their work and research.
Students are asked to register for the symposium with (1) a presentation title and (2) an abstract (150-300 words) or short summary (1-3 sentences) before April 3rd. Students who register will then be instructed to submit their poster (.pdf or .png) and short explanatory video (optional, 2-7 minutes) by April 5th.
The 2021 GRS will conclude with an optional virtual reception on April 8th.

St. Louis Mayoral Primary Candidate Forum

The City of St. Louis’ mayoral race is a critical opportunity for citizens to inform policy priorities. The Social Policy & Electoral Accountability Collaborative (SPEAC), a coalition of regional organizations, is hosting a virtual candidate forum that prioritizes racial equity and justice as they relate to pressing issues including family health and well-being, economic opportunity, neighborhood improvement, and criminal justice. It will feature the four mayoral candidates: Andrew Jones Jr.; Tishaura O. Jones; Lewis E. Reed; and Cara Spencer. Learn more.

GPC is kicking off Black History Month with a Nike Run Challenge! All WashU Graduate & Professional Students are invited to participate in this Walk/Run challenge, which celebrates 28 days of Black History Month with the completion of 26 miles (a marathon). Using the Nike Run Club Application, walk or run 26 miles February 1-28th, and the first 10 participants to complete the challenge will win WashU Nike Gear! See WUGO for instructions on how to enter.

As the COVID landscape worsens, WashU’s COVID testing plan for Spring 2021 remains the same. In light of this, GPC and GSS are gathering information regarding graduate and professional students’ experience with COVID testing. We will use this data to inform a letter we plan to send to WashU’s administration about the surveillance testing plan for Spring 2021.

The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement’s Deliberative Dialogue Post-Election Committee will be hosting a facilitated space for students to process the election through deliberative dialogue. During the event, students will have the opportunity to talk about the election and the state of American democracy while also listening to and learning from the perspectives of other students. Students will be in breakout rooms to encourage dialogue and connection in a small group. There will be a trained facilitator in every group.

Stressed out concerning the delayed election results? So are we. Join us for Power Vinyasa this evening at 6 PM to work off the election anxiety.

Power Vinyasa: In this vinyasa-style class, more intermediate postures will be incorporated, and we will move more quickly than in Slow Flow. Expect a more physically demanding class with an emphasis on balancing strength with ease and connection to the breath. Experience with vinyasa yoga is required.
Instructor Bio:
Kyle received his 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2017 from Yoga Source in St. Louis, MO. He has been practicing yoga for 6 years, studying and attending workshops to deepen his understanding of the techniques and traditions of yoga. His classes contain sequences of flowing movements, as well as breathing and meditation exercises. His main goal is to help students make steady progress while creating a safe, sustainable, and truly beneficial movement and mindfulness practice.
